No, this is my only account. I hadn't pledged until today :)

So.. I'm playing around with distributing ships between two characters. One will be a salvager and sometime smuggler, the other an upright trader. I want both to have some all-around combat fighters, though the smuggler will probably be a little more likely to get in scraps on the fringe.

Right now, I'm thinking:

Smuggler: Constellation, Caterpillar, Cutlass, 315p, F7C-S Ghost, Gladiator, Avenger, 350r, Aurora LN, Scythe

Trader/Explorer: Freelancer, Starfarer, Retaliator, M50, F7C-M Super Hornet; Idris-P

Both have some exploration capabilities, though I plan to fit the 315p more for poking around wrecks and such, and gearing the Freelancer for deep-space scans. The Ghost and Scythe are probably my go-tos for anything rough I don't want to have traced back to me. I'll probably strip the Retaliator down for solid cargo purposes most of the time, while my trader has the M50 for RP reasons as well as having both an agile and heavily armed ship for me to let friends run around in.

The smuggler gets to use the Gladiator in case we run across any pirates using small cap ships or other tough nuts to crack. The Avenger and 350r give me some speedy options to run blockades, and the Aurora LN's my quickly replaceable fighter for when other stuff's in the shop. I'm hoping the Cutlass works out to be a nice all-rounder for daily driving, with the Constellation as its big brother when I've got some friends.

Poke some holes if you think I'm overlooking something or have misjudged something. I'll want to sort this out over the next 2-3 weeks.

What kind of association would you be looking to allow or avoid Kaffis? Will your upright trader employ as crew / carry ships on the Idris players who dabble (or more) in piracy? Or would you prefer the associates to be clean living as well?

You have a massive fleet there, is it build on two pledges with multiple add-on ships?

Oh, I don't think my trader will be doing extensive background checks before enlisting escorts or gunners. It's more about the activities he himself will engage in.

As for the second line, it's multiple pledge packages on two accounts with multiple add-on ships. If I break it down right, I can have an NPC or three per account.

What purpose does the Caterpillar serve for the smuggler?

I plan on kitting it out to be a salvage/repair platform, as it's fairly sizable and probably the most modularly versatile ship we know of. I may also try to set up a secondary fitting for it that would make it a good way to hide a small amount of contraband amid a bunch of legit cargo.

I am wondering whether the Cutlass can double as a reasonable trading / exploration vessel. I know it was initially designed for piracy, but it might be more comfortable for a longer flight, if equipped with a jump drive, than cramped in a hornet.

I really think, except for specialties and certain, limited outcomes, with the right loadout and captain, most ships can fill most roles decently to well.

Ultimately, I think, ship choice within the ship classes(single seater, two seater, multi) is going to be largely an operator's taste, play style, and preference issue.

The biggest limitations as far as pigeon-holing a role are going to be hardpoint availability/size (no matter how hard you try, you're not going to make a bomber out of an M50, for example) and available cargo capacity. Those seem to be the most rigid constraints, followed somewhat closely by thrust-to-mass ratio.

The Cutlass ought to be a fine exploration vessel, and will be on par with something like a 300-series or Avenger for trading, I think. It doesn't have the capacity of a Freelancer, but it's a little more versatile, I think.

I meant among ship sizes. Obviously no single seat ship is going to be the the bomber/trader/etc that a large ship would be.

I think I've got a final ship distribution sorted out. I've also declared myself at a self-imposed ship limit. I plan on upgrading the Constellation and Freelancer(s?) based on their variants when available, but any other changes to my roster will necessitate melting something rather than adding a new hull to my hangars. Otherwise, I fear I'll never be able to walk across a hangar. ;)

Also, updated the roster with requested additions. Known RSI handles (the unique callsign thingie, not the non-unique display name) are being added in parentheses.

Is it bad that, with half my ships not even completed in the hangar, I already internally sigh when I want to log in and go visit one of the ones at the other end? I *have* the buggy!

Organization CommLink is up. Initial roll-out scheduled for early January, though depending on how they do the "public testing" I may get to create a Void Rangers organization sooner. Initial features will be somewhat spartan, but down at the bottom of the CommLink they've got stuff they'll be adding as time goes on. Looks sweet.
