Okay, the Void Rangers are official. I sent out invites to what I think were Elmo, Ulfynn, my alt, Ranelagh, Lonedar, Müs, Rorinthas, Diamondeye, Grouse, Midgen, and Khross. If you're on that list and didn't recieve an invite (check the Organizations entry under "My RSI" on the top menu for pending invites and applications), search for Void Rangers on the Orgs list (under the Community tab at the top) and apply, and let me know so I can revoke the invitation I sent to somebody with a similar name (Elmo's the primary concern here, there were a lot of variations of "Domino" as a member ID -- but I think I hit on the right one when I found the "Maverick" community moniker).

Foamy, I could find a "foamy" but it said you didn't have a game package, so I couldn't invite you -- if that's you, check to ensure you don't just have add-on ships. Darkroland, I couldn't find any darkrolands, so I don't know what your member ID is. Either of you can just go ahead and apply.

I need to collect some non-Gladers' RSI IDs or direct my friends to apply, but we should be pretty well set there.

I'd like to direct folks to the Branding thread so we can work out how to present a good, polished face to the world. ;) If any of you guys are willing to help collaborate on the org page's look, feel, and core documents (charter, history, manifesto), let me know.

Hmm. Now to figure out how to connect to the Void Rangers channel with a mobile client, hehe.

Sent a request as well. I have a placeholder handle (had to create one on the fly back at the site switch, always intended on changing it) but they haven't put the handle changing tool (that was supposed to be live in July) in place yet.

I'm in. I thought Domino was the one that couldn't be replicated so I should be the only Domino out there.

So what are the rules for recruiting?

Yeah, upon closer inspection, I noticed the others were subbing zeros. Was tricky with the font, at first.

We've got 10 members now, which means the search feature classifies us as "Medium." As of right now, we're the largest org with either "Void" or "Ranger" in our name or spectrum ID. Go us!

In the past when we've done Glade guilds that I've been a part of, we haven't really run into problems with "Gladers and their RL friends bypass whatever hoops," essentially. We're a generally compatible enough slice of the gaming populace that that hasn't created a lot of internal conflict to date.

As for other recruiting? I have no idea, especially pre-launch. I'm terribad at recruiting in guilds in general, and will happily pass off recruiting roles to anybody reasonable (by which I mostly mean "not a stranger 3 steps removed from a Glader") who is interested.

Sounds ideal.

I have a buddy that's going to request as well. Think he'll be a good fit, his handle is DocRandal. His buddy, who's bringing a carrier in tow, is Klaitu.

As an anti-social person, I vote very little recruiting other than friends pre-launch. I've always been a fan of smaller, more friendly guilds, rather than massive ridiculous guilds where you don't know anyone and no one talks. Of course, with my limited playtime, I play to enjoy the game, not to destroy endgame content raiding 6 nights a week. So others here may have different ideas.

I have no problem with recruiting as long as I don't have to run an organized recruiting program. As for small, I rather like small and friendly, but I also have found that "small and friendly" turns into "vacant" as people slowly quit logging in, especially for people like me that often have to play at odd hours. Even small, friendly guilds need a steady (if slow) influx of new people.

Oh, certainly. I despise massive guilds. What's the point of a guild where everybody's just a faceless random stranger with your guild tag?

That said, there's something to be said for the critical mass (and geographic spread) to allow a guild to provide regular grouping opportunities/help in all 4 major US time zones' prime times and to survive a little bit of member burnout in cycles, because that's a thing that happens.

I don't plan to do any online recruitment until we're at least playing multiplayer dogfighting alphas, and even then not aggressively advertising.

And yeah, DE beat me to it. Small's great, but you're going to lose some people over time, and need have plans to gain some to balance that.

Sent you an application, as I didn't see an invite.

Yeah, I searched for a "Diamondeye" and sent an app as a stab in the dark. It wasn't you. ;)

Are we going for a general population count online? I like a guild capable of doing something and being a force in the world (not always the biggest) but a respectable one. I want someone to think twice about trying to poach off of a Void Ranger because there will be consequences to doing so.

Kaffis:

I have applied. I am not using Foamy on RSI, so that's why you couldn't find me...or the one you found doesn't have a game package.

Callsign: Hitman
