He's a big, violent guy, but I don't think it's fair to say he leads with his head. He never makes contact with the crown of his helmet. He leads with his shoulder. There will always be some incidental contact with the side of his head, but I think the shoulder would be as much of a concern as his head.

Here are two views of the big hit he had against Vernon Davis last season. He was flagged on the play for hitting a defenseless receiver, but not for helmet to helmet.

And this was the result of the hit against Vernon Davis in the NFC championship game this year. There was no helmet to helmet contact in this play either. He hit him in the ribs (which carries its own risk of injury. i.e. punctured lung, etc)

Here is a tackle against Julius Thomas in the Superbowl.

I can't find it right now, but I read an article about him where after being fined in 2011 for a helmet to helmet hit, he met with the league and asked how he can legally do what he does. He was told to turn his head to the side and not lead with the crown of his helmet. He has not been fined since (he has been flagged for defenseless receiver hits, but not helmet to helmet).

I'm thinking this as well. Probably one in Wolf Gray. ;)

I picked up a home blue Chancellor jersey this morning. I already have a wolf gray 12th Man jersey.

I think I'll eventually get a Russell Wilson Elite with the Superbowl logo on it in Road White to round out my collection, but that will have to wait. I've spent enough money on them for the next few months. :)

Scoring Summary
FIRST QUARTER SEA DEN I think we can win this. It'll be tough though.
sea SF 14:48 Knowshon Moreno Tackled In End Zone By Cliff Avril 2 0 That's an odd way to start the game. Huh. Well, at least we get the ball.
sea FG 10:21 Steven Hauschka 31 Yd 5 0 Man, wish we could have gotten 7 there. FGs aren't going to be enough against PFM.
sea FG 02:16 Steven Hauschka 33 Yd 8 0 Its still a one score game, and Denver's just starting slow. This isn't enough.
SECOND QUARTER SEA DENCould we win this? I think we can!
sea TD 12:00 Marshawn Lynch 1 Yd Run (Steven Hauschka Kick) 15 0 BEAST MODE! Still only a 2 score game. Lots of football left. PFM's gonna get it going.
sea TD 03:21 Malcolm Smith 69 Yd Interception Return (Steven Hauschka Kick) 22 0 Holy crap! What a play! Man, the Broncos look a bit like they're whipped.
THIRD QUARTER SEA DENHoly crap, I think we can win this! And shut them out!
sea TD 14:48 Percy Harvin 87 Yd Kickoff Return (Steven Hauschka Kick) 29 0 Its still only a 4 score game... but THAT'S why we paid Harvin $60M!
sea TD 02:58 Jermaine Kearse 23 Yd Pass From Russell Wilson (Steven Hauschka Kick) 36 0 Ok, this is starting to look like a blowout... I thought the Broncos would put up more of a fight...
den TD 00:00 Demaryius Thomas 14 Yd Pass From Peyton Manning (Peyton Manning Pass To Wes Welker For Two-Point Conversion) 36 8 Ok, there's the fight I expected. Still 15 minutes to play. Watch out for the onside... yeah, that went well.
FOURTH QUARTER SEA DENOh crap, here they come. I thought we could win this.
sea TD 11:45 Doug Baldwin 10 Yd Pass From Russell Wilson (Steven Hauschka Kick) 43 8 And there's the answering TD. 11:45 left and its a 5 score game again. Still enough time for PFM... But I think I can relax a bit now.
FINAL SEA DEN 43 8I can't believe we just won this! OMFGYAY!

For anyone interested, the #Celebrate48 Seahawks Superbowl Parade will start at 11AM Pacific tomorrow (Wednesday Jan 5).

I believe it will be shown live on the NFL Network, and several local TV stations.

These two I know for sure.
http://www.king5.com/
http://q13fox.com/

The Fox channel claims to have exclusive access to the post parade celebration at Century Link.

I believe they are using the twitter hashtag #Celebrate48 if you want to follow along there.

My bro & I are heading down there. Gonna be a madhouse! Not getting into the Clink thing, but we'll find a spot (hopefully) somewhere along the parade route.

They are expecting between 300k and 400k people. The largest public event in the history of the city. BY FAR!

There is no way I am going to commute over from the east side/north. There is no way there is going to be enough infrastructure (porta potties?) for that many people.

I'll volunteer to hang around the office and hold down the fort. It'll be fun to watch all of the monitoring systems freak out when the Seattle market goes red from being crushed.... :p

Here is a link to the official ustream feed for the celebration tomorrow

I'll watch on NFLN. Y'know, since I can't be in Seattle. ;)

Kam Chancellor Payback hit on Welker for Welker's Attempted pick on Sherman.
Image

The end of the play isn't in there, but Kam stuffs Welker into the turf and woofs at him for a second. I used to respect the little ****, but now, he's been a dirty ***** in the past 2 games.

This should have been a first down.

It makes sense he would want to stay. He and Marshawn Lynch will benefit considerably if Percy Harvin has even a decent season next year.

The arrow on that side of the field is not official, that is why they always trot the chains in for measurements from the up side of the TV. (not sure how else you define the home side versus side of the field for the super bowl).

Vindicated.
I’ve spent most of my life as a Seahawks fan when a friend handed me a Largent card when I was 8 or so. Never watched much actual football in my teens and whatnot, but I followed the box scores and standings.

Got into the Hawks for real in ’02ish or so. Then XL came. I was devastated by the “Get The Bus A Ring Bowl”. Some part of me thought that was our one, brightest chance, and Seattle would never be allowed to have a Lombardi because of the horrendous East Coast Bias. The Mora year came and went without fanfare. Then… we got Carroll. Not having followed college football, I was intrigued by this crazy bastard chomping his gum and jumping up and down with glee on the sideline. Carroll rekindled my love for the Hawks and I took pride when we made the playoffs at 7-9. And then… BeastQuake. I believe my head exploded that day. We had a monster on our hands, and he was ours. I was thrilled when we got Flynn, and puzzled when this 3rd round shortarse took the job from him. What the hell were you doing Pete?

Last year, I learned. Trust Pete. He knows what he’s doing. The Falcons game crushed me again. But I still had hope. Hope that we could put it all together in ‘13. This year, I almost had three or four separate heart attacks. You all know which games I’m talking about. Then 13-3 happened. Then the Saints. Then the real Superbowl… the 49ers. I was more worried about that game than the SB. I finally breathed when Sherm tipped the ball to Mal. We’re going to the Big Game!

Where… we have to face Peyton Fricking Manning. The Historical Best Offense Ever. Oh. Oh crap. Well, our Defense is stout, and we have a chance. It’ll be hard fought, and we’ll have to be perfect, but we have a chance. Then I did some research. PFM played a bunch of scrub D’s all year. We’re awesome. I think we got this! First quarter. 2-0 Huh. That’s odd. Mental errors already? Its just 2 points though. Can’t relax. 5-0, then 8-0. We needed touchdowns there. Its still a 1 score game. 15-0. Must have more points. 22-0. Damn Mal looked great… wait a tick… noone really chased him. Are they whipped? No, they’re pros. Its only 3 scores, and there’s a half left. They’re gonna come out and make adjustments. It is PFM afterall. 29-0. THAT’S why we paid Percy $67m! Still a lot of football left though! 36-0. Wait. Where the hell is the Bronco’s Legendary Offense? 36-8. Oh, there it is. Here they come. A PFM comeback for the… 43-8. Never mind. They can’t stop us. We got this!

Holy crap! WE GOT THIS!!! YES! YES! WE JUST WON!! Not just won… dominated. Destroyed. Left rubble in our wake. Vindicated.

Apparently Russell doesn't like the "cold weather" (it's 34 and a light breeze at the parade).

Enjoy your turn at the top of the mountain. I have long thought the term World Champion was an arrogance. It should only apply to international, seriously international, competitions.
