Some of you may recollect my life has had some ups and downs recently.

So I decided to manufacture an up.

Audi S3, 3 door, 300bhp hatchback.
Panther black.
Debadged to look like an A3 - no 'Look at me!' s3 wing mirrors or badges to shout it's the fast one.
Threw most of the options book at it.

It was that or a second hand 911 and the 911 felt just a little too midlife crisisy....

;-p

Hot! Drive it like you bought it and are making payments on it for the next few years. ;)

Drive it like it's a lease and you have to pay for any damage incurred or additional mileage over a specified amount!

Drive it like you're 85 and can barely see over the dashboard.

Or, drive it like you really wanted a Porsche?! Or, like you think it's a Porsche?

Sorry, couldn't resist. Sounds like a nice car, congrats. Although I really know nothing about Audis (much less the difference between an S and an A).

The S is the "Sport" designation. Usually more HP, better suspension, etc.

Think BMW M3 as opposed to 335i. Or an AMG Merc.

That's awesome and congrats.

I must ask, though, is it a particularly entertaining car?

Ah, gotcha, thanks. Is that a Euro-only thing? Never noticed that around here (and there are quite a few Audis on the road). Gonna have to keep an eye out for it.

Yours presumably has the steering wheel on the 'correct' side though, amirite? :)

Not entirely true, it's on the left which is just wrong.

They added a new colour, so I changed my order. Because Sepang Blue is the bomb...

Yeah, definitely. Gets the juices flowing.

But, come to think of it, where will you drive it? Do you drive to work, in London?

Good, good. My faith in you is restored :D

Boy, now you've got me thinking of all the places you could drive to in England in that. (I'm kind of on an England kick lately.)

I just need to work out how to put a rack on it for 2 bikes... apparently the standard option requires a towbar, and this model can't have a towbar fitted. Buggrit!

That's a funny image, to me. We just got a new car ... a VW wagon. That picture is also a VW, but I'm not sure if that's a Jetta or one of those Tiguan things. But what's ironic is that my not-cheap universal bike rack that I picked up and used on my Subaru for years doesn't fit on the VW. Kind of frustrating.

Yeah, except I think I want something designed for the car... Id be terrified that'd flip sideways on a bump or something and ruin bikes and car paint

That one doesn't look as stable as the one I had; there's only one strap on the bottom, as opposed to two. I was always worried, too, but it never really moved that much, once it was cinched down. But it did leave some small scuff marks, I will admit. Of course, my car was a 10-year old Subaru, worth about 1/20th of what yours is, I'm sure. ;)

Please tell me you'll go here:

The Shell Grotto in Margate.

I must go there.
