Ah. Maybe the rubber-suit movies have misled me over the years.

As one who finds the Starship Troopers movie guiltily charming (despite also being a fan of Heinlein), this image amuses me.

Just got back. This is a good Godzilla movie, for some values of good. Decent script, good CGI, trashed major cities, blaming it on nuclear testing,

I might even go so far as to say it is the best Godzilla movie I've seen. Admittedly, that isn't saying too much.

Spoiler:
No Giant robots. Just Kaiju.

Godzilla 2 has already been greenlit (greenlighted? whatever). Here's hoping it's better than the first.

We enjoyed it lots. But I grew up loving Godzilla and other monster movies.

Godzilla, or: Ken Watanabe Stares Off Into the Middle Distance: The Movie.

I wasn't blown away. It was OK, but felt somewhat like it wanted to be all Godzillas to all Tokyos. Certainly light years better than the rancid 1998 film, probably better than the sequels, but paled in comparison to the original.

A pretty promising start, but I'd kinda rather rewatch the trailers again instead.

Does he pull the spitting high tension wires down with a purposeful grimace and a terrible sound?

It happens, but Godzilla isn't the one that does it.

It was perpetrated by the cult of the azure mollusc.

I enjoyed the hell out of it. I even cheered at one point. Next movie needs to have less humans.

I enjoyed the Cranston bits. Hated anything to do with the husband, wife, and kid. I haven't had that many eyerolls in a movie in a while.

Other than that it was what I was expecting from a Godzilla movie. I didn't hate the 1998 movie (other than the Jurassic Park ending), but this was definitely far better than it.

Bonus: Walter White uses iomega Zip Disks!

Finally got around to seeing this.

I don't think I've ever been cockteased by a movie as much as this one.

Also, it was epically stupid. Sure, there was a giant lizard beating up another monster thing... but it was what? 2 hours in until we got that? I don't think I've been as angry at the stupidity in a movie since World War Z.

Yeah, I just attempted to watch this a couple weeks ago. I'm fairly easy to please, but I thought this film was terrible.

After getting an hour into it my eyes were getting fatigued from rolling, so I fast-forwarded to the monster stuff.

The monster looked cool. There, I said one nice thing about it.
