I don't think it was a twin. There is a scene where Moira is discussing this long-brain dead individual, but he looked nothing like Patrick Stewart, and there is some dialog about a psychic being able to transfer their mind into another.
At the end of the movie the unnamed patient opens their eyes.

After seeing it opening weekend, I'd say they rode the time travel shark to the medal podium, at least. It could have been far, far worse.

Saw an interesting article (err, series of transcribed Q/As, because that's what we do on the internet, these days, we write "14 things you didn't know..." bullshit) where writer Simon Kinberg talks about X-Men: Days of Future Past. Worth a read, if you've seen the movie. It certainly makes me feel pretty satisfied with some of the choices they made that weren't immediately apparent to me.

I'm interested (and heartened -- Fassbender and McAvoy are way more interesting to me than Professor Picard and Gandalf-neto, who both look great in costume but never really did anything to really set their performances apart from their iconic roles elsewhere... a clear case of cursed by their own success) that they're going to be continuing the First Class cast with :Apocalypse (and since we weren't talking about ays of Future Past before... Apocalypse!!!); I'd figured the point of this time travel escapade was to abandon the lackluster box-office performer First Class and get back to the more well-known mutant cast of the X-Men-X3 trilogy, especially after going to the trouble of showing the present-day rebooting that saw a resurrected Jean and Scott. Which.. I would've also been okay with, probably, as the time-altered present would give plenty of justification to really break down the pretty good ensemble cast with all the classic characters and really rewrite them to better resemble their comic counterparts. Marsden is an obvious example -- he's a fine actor that I think could handle a true-to-the-page Cyclops if they'd just write him that way instead of having Wolverine walk over the team leader role and undermine it at every opportunity because he's more popular as a character.

Though, this does present them with an interesting opportunity: rather than picking up after ays of Future Past's altered-present to reintegrate the original X-Men cast, they can actually do another movie or two with First Class, and then work towards retelling origins and recruitments for that original cast, if they want. They could even shave McAvoy and lose the huge cast expenditures for McKellen and Stewart, if they want.

Ramble time! Because I've been masking in Photoshop all morning and my hand is cramping.

I thought it was great...not the best of the X-Men files (that honor goes to First Class), but one of the good ones (of which I count X-Men 2: X-Men United [**** that "X2" naming bullshit; this was Fox's "shortened titles" phase along with LXG, #eyeroll], and The Wolverine; X-Men can stay, but you're nothing special, aside from your placement in popular culture as the famous forerunner of the current Superhero Craze [though that actually kicked off with the superior Blade, but X-Men is more visible]).

I personally view it as X-Men, X-Men 2, X-Men: The Last Stand, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, and The Wolverine being a sort of split of the timeline, and First Class and the past parts of DoFP being part of the "main" timeline, with the variable being the assassination of Trask. Assassination of Trask was the divergence point, and the timeline broke, resulting in the original trilogy line/DoFP future timeline. Prevention of the assassination brought the timeline back into, er, line with alterations, and retconned the original trilogy and XMO:W with a soft-ish reboot (kinda like DC's New 52, where events you remember happened, sort of, in a kind of general sense but not if we think of something we like better going forward). So, basically, First Class and the past bits of DoFP happened, by God. Everything after it may or may not have happened, or happened in a different way.

I know it's not really what they intended, but dammit, I like it better because it allows me to pretend The Last Stand and XMO:W effectively no longer exist.

Actually, I think that's exactly what they intended, lol.

We enjoyed it. I was soooo happy to see Blink done well, even if she was not in the original DoFP comics.

Speaking of, she has a contract to do 5 movies. Sooo, some form of New Mutants coming up? (Warpath, Blink, Sunspot...)

Ooh. I hadn't seen the 5-movie contract. I was quite elated to see Blink on-screen. Hopefully, we'll actually get some character development if they've got her on for more.

New Mutants would make a lot of sense, considering that's essentially the future cast they had for cameos. Sunspot and Warpath were both among them.

My son and I went to the Thursday night 10PM showing of X-men Days of Future Past. He is a fanboi, I just like the movies. It was very enjoyable with a lot of laugh out loud moments. I enjoyed it very much...my son liked it but has some reservations about it. He is a purist, I just like to be entertained.

This post is actually about the movie in this thread's title. Finally watched it this weekend.

I thought it was fine. I liked it more than X3. They definitely played around with the age of some of the characters (Alex Summers, anyone?). But otherwise it was easily overlooked.

It had a better plot than all the other X-Men movies, that is for sure. Seriously, the previous X-Men movies had some pretty silly plots if you go back and watch them with the removal of the rose-tinted glasses.
