Dodd gone - he's done his damage.

Sen. Chris Dodd (D-Conn.) plans to announce Wednesday that he will retire from the Senate at the end of the year, capping a 30-year career where he rose to become one of the chamber's most influential members, several Democratic sources told POLITICO Tuesday night.

Dodd’s decision to retire is, at first glance, a blessing to Senate Democrats who worried they would have trouble holding the seat with the embattled senator in the race. Now Democrats expect that Connecticut Attorney General Richard Blumenthal will run in Dodd’s place, giving the party a stronger nominee in a race that was widely believed to be a toss-up.


What's with the Dems retiring and switching their D's for R's? Don't they know that the Republicans are finished and have no hope for decades to come?

I'm happy to see him leave. Apparently there is a very popular democrat that will run for his seat there when he's gone.

Hmmm, I've read it in the WSJ, the Washington Post, Politico and Fox News - hell even Yahoo! news had this to say:

I heard somebody suggest on the radio today that a lot of Democrats are realizing the party is being taken over by radicals and they don't want to be associated with it. Interesting theory, but not sure if I agree with it.

If this forum is representative of US domestic sentiment it would seem US politics in general is being taken over by fundamentalists, if not radicals. It seems unbelievably polarized to me -for how long can a country find peace and prosper with such hostility between such large portions of the populous?

Long time, I suppose ...

You can take me at my word and move on with the conversation, or you can force me to link it, feel stupid that you didn't believe me in the first place, and then continue the conversation. Which would you like it to be? By the way, there are more Republican governors than democrats retiring, and, IIRC, more Republican members of the house, as well.

I wouldn't feel stupid at all. I'd be thankful to have become more informed by seeing a sourced link that showed more knowledge. See, I like knowledge, regardless of the source.

The source might be biased, but it might lead to more knowledge. See, knowledge is good, and important. You might want to look into it.
