Yeh, we've had a couple of crappy years. It happens. At least we've been to the Superbowl in the past 10 years. :p

And past successes don't mean anything really. Ooh yeah, you were great in the 70's and the 90's. Weee. So were the 49ers. Oh, and the Steelers too. But neither team has reached quite the level of saturation that the Cowboys has.

Hehehe, I'm just giving ya a hard time. I hope you know. Besides, who am I to talk, since my No.1 favorite team is the Chiefs, with Dallas a close second. I keep rooting through all the disappointments. But there's always next year! GO, Chiefs!

I know you're just bustin my chops. Its all good. A little sports rivalry ain't a bad thing.

I will admit jealousy over Miles Austin though. Whatever CrackerJack box you got that kid out of... you done got your money's worth.

I was on vacation this weekend, and only saw highlights without sound. What was wrong with the last Vikings TD?

It was 4th & 3, with very little time left, and Favre threw a pass.

As far as I see it, just because the Cowboys quit, doesn't mean the Vikings had to. If they didn't want to give up a TD, they could have tried harder to stop them.

What a classless act that was, imo. It just confirmed every negative impression I've gotten about Favre.

It's classless to play the game to your fullest, down to the final seconds?

It's about sportsmanship. I really don't care about Minnesota or Dallas, but I'll call it like it was. It's not exactly classy to go for it on 4th and 3 when you're up over three scores with under two minutes to go. A field goal would have sufficed. This isn't the BCS where you have to win with style to increase rank. The win was already in the books. I'm really not a big fan of seeing teams run scores up in the final seconds of a game, regardless of the team or sport.

I think ESPN had a nice piece on this. They said that there have only been six or seven teams who've scored a touchdown in the final two minutes of the fourth quarter when leading by 20 or more in the past decade. This includes all regular season games. This was the first to occur in the playoffs. So as you can see, it's not exactly a very common thing to run the score up like that, which is understandable.

People will always disagree on this though. Personally, I always respect my opponents in sports. I treat others like I'd like to be treated. If my team is killing an opponent and we have a chance to run it up even more, we tone it down. It's like if someone throws in the white towel in a boxing match and you still sucker punch him before the ref sees the towel.

With all the said, Dallas deserved it. They ran up the score on Philly the past two weeks. They have little room to talk.

Dallas also called a time out before the two minute warning. If they just wanted the game over, why call the time out?

Maybe I am mis-remembering, but I seem to recall Dallas used all their time outs around the 6 minute mark of the fourth quarter.

I shall look tomorrow. There was a pretty good segment on ESPN's 1st & 10 that raised the point that on that drive, Dallas used a time out before the 2 minute warning.

The way I look at it, when you're winning a game easily is one of the only times you should ever go for the touchdown on 4th and 3, because it doesn't matter if you fail. (The other time is when you're losing the game and desperately need the points.)

Huh, interesting, finally had a chance to read a bit about it. I go back and forth on running up the score. It's like the end of this year's USC-UCLA game. Up by more than two scores, USC had the ball with a little more (I think) than 2 minutes remaining. USC took a knee, but UCLA called a timeout to try and get the ball back. Next play, USC throws a 60-odd yard TD pass right through the middle of the UCLA secondary.

And now the weasel has left for Seattle, robbing UCLA of the opportunity to pay him back. Not that that was likely to happen for some time, but, still.

I agree. I am not a Romo fan, nor am I a Phillips fan. Romo is too inconsistent, showing equal streaks of genious and idiocy, IMO. He'll be a good QB if he overcomes that. And not much good to say about Phillips, period.

Indeed. On paper, however, they look so very closely matched with N'awlins that the home stadium may be the deciding factor. :(

I want Favre to die in a plane crash. I hate football and don't care who wins...as long as Favre doesn't.

Count me in the 'Anyone but Favre' crowd.

I think the S'bowl will probably be the Colts beating the Saints, but N.O. is a bit of a wildcard.

I'm pulling for Manning to win at this point, but I wouldn't be crushed if the Saints won it. Can't bring myself to pull for the Jets despite the feel-good/underdog/rookie quarterback thing (I'm usually a sucker for stuff like that, but I guess having N.Y. in your name trumps all that for me).

Peyton had better start learning to deal with the blitz or it's going to be a very long day.

What a day of football.

Should be a pretty damn good Super Bowl.

I predict a thousand yards of offense and a hundred points.

This is going to be hard to pick. The Saints have the emotional advantage, but the Colts are the better team. Common sense says put your money on the Colts, but I wouldn't call it a sure thing. If the Saints can figure out a way to keep Manning off of his tempo (which is no small task), they might just pull this off...

If I were forced to make I pick, I'd say Colts by 13.

I hope the Saints win, but only because I generally dislike Manning, and the Colts as a team are just bland and devoid of any sort of personality. Heck, and I even played as a Colt in PeeWee league football.

But, yeah, there's gonna be some offense in this SB.
