Its what we called flip flops back in the 60s and 70s as I remember. Someone wearing a thong would have lost the other one.

80's too. When I was a kid they were called thongs. I didn't hear the term flip-flop until high school.

must be regionally different then, around here I never heard anyone call them anything but flip flops when I was growing up, even people of my mother's generation call them flip flops, was only when you get to people of my grandparents generation that I hear them called thongs.

Maybe so. I grew up on the Oregon coast.

thongs don't do it for me.. Find them uncomfortable and a tad revealing when my scrub ties decide to accidently undo when I least expect it..I go for bikini.. Other things saved for special occasions where they might not be on long enough to become uncomfortable ;)

Now I have The Todd saying "thoooooooooong!" stuck in my head.

Me too! I'm pretty sure I can relate any conversation / event to a Scrubs reference.

What's scary is that when I think about a line in a Scrubs episode, I usually see that episode within a couple days. I can't figure out if I just think about Scrubs that much or if I'm psychic.

I love that song, though the version from Glee is better IMO, I was listening to that earlier actually.

I'd say a combo of the former and Scrubs being so awesome!

Think about the episode LaVerne died, and the "Wet white people smell like wet dogs" quote was born, then DVR it and send me a copy. I've only seen it once, and have never been able to see it again.

No thong undies for me... the last thing I need is a moist wick for bacteria to travel. My Gyn says she's see a lot fewer yeast infections and UTIs if woman would stop wearing thongs, especially to excercise. I just make the effort to find full-back panties that don't ride up (I have no trouble with boy-shorts) or I go commando; I've heard the 'Better a thin bit of string than a wad of undies', but for me, but better nothing up my crack at all!

'Thong' means 'Thing held on with a bit of string' early plastic flip-flops were called thongs back when the undies were called 't-backs' or 'g-strings' and only strippers wore them.

Edited to add g-strings

Scrubs on the floor, scrubs on the floor, soundin' like a MOOSE when yo scrubs on the floor!

This thread started out moderately win.

Then Shel's "picher" upped the win quotient considerably.

Then...
