Do you use the "recycle bin" or do you turn that feature off?

Do you use the recycle bin?

Or turn it off?

I hate deleting and item and knowing that it's still in the recycle bin. So I turn the recycle bin off. I'm always sure of what I want to delete and I never regret deleting the things I delete.

I use it, and I have regretted throwing some things away and found them there in the Recycle Bin.

To each their own. Its a personal preference thing.

It's fine to use it if you remember to empty it every once in a while. What's annoying is when users in my company use it as another file folder. I've seen Recycle Bins chock-full of stuff, thousands of items. I think a lot of people just don't understand that deleted items go there, unless you turn it off, or hit Shift+Delete to get rid of things permanently.

I empty it periodically, when I do a cleanup. I have retrieved files that I thought
I didn't want anymore.

I got in the habit of disabling it back in the days when hard drives were small and expensive, and I was always challenged for space.

I still disable it today, but it's mainly out of habit more than anything else.

This. And I always Shift+Delete, both at home and at work.

Shift-Delete gets used more often than not for me. However, there are certain things I'm not sure if I should delete but I get tired of looking at them. Those go in the Recycle Bin. If they're still there in a month or two, they get chucked. There's been times I've rescued stuff out of it.

So it stays.

Use it. Has saved my bacon on more than one occasion. And I love bacon.

I don't disable it, but I shift-delete most things.

I didn't know shift delete existed until this thread. Neat.
