That punk got what was coming to him. Beard guy clearly was reacting in self defense.

Also, did anyone notice the girl with headphones across from beard guy not react at all during the whole thing? Just another day on the bus!

That is actually the only thing I believe about her youtube apology. I doubt she knew either guy. But to try and say it's horrible they were fighting when she was goading the whole thing on from the get go with videoing it, "say it again pinky" and "beat his white ***" is a joke. I suppose we're also meant to believe she took his bag and said "go through that ****" because she was a concerned citizen looking for ID to aid in a possible police investigation. What an idiot.

She got what's coming to her too, generally speaking, although many of the youtube comments make me cringe. Ugh.

Well, at least you're self-aware of this effect. It's what we've been trying to tell Monte he's prone to for years and he doesn't seem to get it, much less acknowledge it.

Of course, the flipside is that I think conservatives tend to miss actual racial issues more often than liberals as a result. Basically, when considering the relevance of race to an event, liberals get too many false positives and conservatives get too many false negatives.

That's just your liberalism attempting to reconcile the over abundance of false positives by coming to the conclusion that it can't be just you.

Nah, your conservatism is just attempting to avoid recognizing its over abundance of false negatives by coming to the conclusion that my liberalism is attempting to reconcile the over abundance of false positives by coming to the conclusion that it can't be just me. Or something like that.

Hey guys, don't bother with the string when you go kill the minotaur, you won't need it.

This is nothing more than a confirmation bias.

I dont know about conformation bias, but RD I agree it's drilled into you in a liberal environment. It's not just that you are a liberal, I think it's where you are geographically or who your influences are. Parents, teachers, peers, media etc.

It has been made quite abundantly clear to me that as a white male I am easily targeted as racist and even more easily ignored as the victim of such.

I think what you see from conservatives is more a "I dont want to hear it", because they are acutely aware of the double standard and regularly labeled as racist regardless of what they do.

Obvious disclaimer that this is my opinion, and I'm painting with a broad brush.

I agree with that. I think that conservatives are generally unwilling to listen to complaints of racism because they really are not willing to hear complaints of racism when the same activities are perfectly acceptable when perpetrated against whites, males, or other grousp that are acceptable targets, and are masked with a fig leaf of redressing wrongs. "White privilege" or "male privilege" are the worst examples; racism that cannot be observationally verified in any way; it's simply assumed, and will therefore never go away.

Essentially it's a matter of "we'll start caring about racism when you start being consistent about it."

The use of the "n word" is like this to me. It's my understanding from what the media communicates that you can only use that word with impunity if you're black, otherwise you're racist.

I found this interesting - if I heard correctly, the black thug used it in the video. Had the race of the guys been opposite of what it was, I'm thinking this would have been a hate crime.

Yeah.. Ambalamps was clearly not knocked out for 3 minutes, and he definitely did not hit EBG three times in the jaw before the beating happened.

Don't tase me, bro! I'm Epic Beard Man!

It's apparently the same guy:

Last year, Bruso was involved in another incident, also captured on video and widely circulated on YouTube and other Web sites.

At an Aug. 3, 2009, A's ballgame, Oakland police officers used a stun gun on Bruso because he refused repeated requests to leave the ballpark. He hadn"t been drinking but had brought alcohol into the stadium, police spokesman Jeff Thomason said at the time. When Bruso refused to leave, Coliseum security asked Oakland police officers working the game to eject him. Three officers verbally tried several times to get Bruso to leave, but he refused.

The situation quickly escalated after Bruso made a rude gesture at one of the two officers. They then placed a handcuff on Bruso"s left wrist. A third officer arrived with a Taser, stunning the man in the left shoulder blade while another officer was placing the other cuff on Bruso"s right wrist. The third officer applied the Taser on Bruso again, this time near the middle of his back, which caused Bruso to fall forward into an aisle. He was charged with resisting arrest and taken to a hospital for a psychiatric evaluation.

The cops played it smart. They know better than to screw around with a large Nam vet with an attitude. Bring the right number of guys and the right tools.

I just wonder how many incidents Epic Beard Man's been in off-camera. He must live a very colorful life.

I don't like to participate in white guilt. I don't appreciate it when people try to place a mantle of guilt on my shoulders for something I didn't do. :ugeek:

I explain as an Irish American whose ancestors not only did not own slaves but suffered under the dominance of a far more evil empire for twice as long, I have no white guilt.
