The best way to take care of a Mosin is to get rid of it.

There's a reason it's cheap: it's garbage.

The reason is cheap is massive surplus from Eastern bloc states actually.

So no one has any real advice relating to what I asked?

And the reason they made so many? Cheapness. Cheapness came from poor quality.

We're giving you real advice that you don't wish to hear: purchase a quality product instead, and you'll find more readily available resources on how to maintain it.

Don't like that answer? The all-powerful Wizard of Google should help.

Yes its real advice, no its not related to what I asked.

A more helpful response would have been: No, I don't.

Thank you Midgen.

Update:

Mosin: After a quick clean I am about 4 inches off center at 100 yards iron sights with the Mosin. Kicks like a MULE. Thanks for putting a steel butt plate on it, much more cushioning than just wood *eyeroll*.

Saiga: Slightly less kick throwing slugs than Mosin but don't be within 50 feet of me if I am throwing slugs cause I can toss them through the same hole. Ten round pro-mag feeds like **** and always fails to feed third round, 5 round factory mag feeds like dream. *note don't fire Mosin and Saiga in same day for sake of shoulder and spine OR get a tac shirt with built in padding*

AR-15: Can't hit the paper at 100 yards, aiming at the dirt im 18 inches or more high even with full rear sight adjustment. Must switch off of 55 grain and/or adjust front sight. Groups tight and crisp with Hannibal-s pre zeroed AR.

Side note: Was at same range as world champion outdoor small bore target shooter. Dude could literally put one in the eye of a squirrel at 50 yards. We were embarrassed to be on the same range as him with out shot placement. *Note to be fair: he had a scope we were iron sights and zeroing most of our stuff - still embarrassed*

Heh. The 45-70 I shoot sometimes has a steel butt plate, but at least in 1873 they were kind enough to heavily curve the plate, presumably so that the recoil is more evenly distributed. Unfortunately, for any adult larger than the typical 4 yr. old, the curve is too deep, leaving just the pointy ends of the kickplate at top and bottom to pierce your shoulder.

Ouch. Can you get one of those rubber absorbers for it?
