Well you little Sheila, we can't Americanize you too much. Put another shrimp on the barbie and be sure to wear your Akubra while doing it.

How's Paul Hogan doing these days anyway?

/ugly American off

(an Akubra is a hat Mus, not an undegarment.)

Hehe we don't use shrimp here, i'ts prawn silly... and who's paul hogan?

Neither have I heard of Akubra... are those the cork screw hats?

It's also interesting to note that the Us people use Sheila much more than we now do hehe.

I believe the last time I left anyone an angry voice mail was never... however over vent, I believe it was about a month ago hehe...

I'm quite sure there is a fortune to be made on late night American TV with that skillset...

Put another shrimp on the barbie was regularly featured in tourism a promotional ads here in the States - we understand shrimp right off, having those huge prawns displayed on the BBQ, and calling them shrimp, was part of the gag..

Paul Hogan is the actor who played Crocodile Dundee, still the biggest Australian movie. He also starred in a lot of those ads.

Akubra is the classic line of felt hats that comes out of Australia, actually very good hats. - http://www.akubra.com.au/

Bruce and Sheila as stereotypical Australian names were all the rage about the time Crocodile Dundee came out.

Sidenote: Australians being called Bruce revived the name from an American euphemism for gay to being a reasonable name to use again.

And I still can't stand Vegemite. Like Weetabix and Ginger Nuts though.

We offer you refuge in the States.

Come, amaze the Americans with your Asian beauty and incongruous Australian accent.

I actually looked into jobs of my field in the US, they are mostly in Cali... However the pay incentive aint the greatest and I lose about 2 years of experience moving...

Another interesting twist in the saga that is my life. I got a call from a head hunter about an hour ago. I'm preparing my CV and having a quick interview with him in regards to a job with a major OTC player... more to come.

That's great news! I also just applied for another position, however it is still working in the same place, just it won't be immediately under the Division (and Deputy Division) Director, whome I currently support. It my change up my hours some, but it would be an immediate $6,500 raise followed by a $12,500 raise a year later (assuming things are working out). There are still a number of ifs (i.e. if I make the certificate, if I make the interview process), but the job is exactly what I was doing for over two years as a contractor before I started this current position, only the new position is now a government full time employee (FTE, aka General Service [GS]) position.

I really am not looking to move, for a couple reasons, one as I do like the position I am in and I know I am providing support where it is needed, but this would be big promotion opportunity (to GS-12/GS-13) and where I am currently located is locked at GS-11.

latest development. due to company needs, a restructuring of the apartment has shown that a manager sitting and controling from New Zealand is the best plan. The consolation prize for me is that I get an upgraded Senior title, and possibly a pay rise... =(

I'm okay with it I suppose, but I'm not as happy as I thought I would have been.

They're rebuilding your home around you!?

On the bright side, it won't get *worse.* And it might even get better. It's my experience that more remote management doesn't get as frazzled about you occasionally going over their heads to somebody local if you need some help in the trenches, because, well, it's clear they're not local.

Blah department... >.<

Yeah I'm looking at the bright side, but I have another tough choice coming up... Maybe it's the moon or something, but the last week just had too much drama, even for me...
