I didn't beat it, actually. My last post is still current. I got sucked into Heavy Rain; I apologize.

By disc three, everyone has been fleshed out some and your group finally feels like a team. I'm actually looking forward to the remainder of the game, because the last few chapters are when it opens up and you get access to like 62 extra quests.

Don't know how much replayability the game will have when the first 20 hours or so are the same every time.

Sorry for not posting earlier, I was sucked into the game last night. I'm still early in as I was only able to play for about 3 hours or so last night before I had to pass out. My 2 cents as of now...

I like the characters and the story so far.

Gameplay is pretty fast paced since the rest of the party is auto. I say it's fast because there have been times where the cpu party members have killed the target before I've fully decided what I want my character to do. I can see this being possibly problematic once you've unlocked a bunch of abilities/techniques. I do find that the auto-battle is a good solution but the addition of the option makes the game a lot like late in 12 after you have a whole screen of gambits to make the game play itself.

Leveling system is a lot of fun and I find myself visiting the screens after almost every battle.

Voice acting is actually good this time around which was an issue that I had with 10. There is a lot of unnecessary sighing and grunting which makes me laugh. I like that the characters have conversations while you're walking around, gives them a lot of depth and development.

Design and visuals are gorgeous. I have yet to see a more beautiful game, but we already knew that was going to be the case.

I can see this becoming a favorite of mine along with 7 & 12. I'll be sure to check back in as I progress.

Getting deeper into the story, it's really beginning to look like a fusion of 10 and 12.
Spoiler:
Someone has to sacrifice themselves to become Ragnarok and destroy Cocoon. Same as Jecht in FFX. Similarities to 12 come into play when you realize that humanity is just being controlled by some higher beings and used as play-things.

Plus, I don't think the goal was to make the 360 version look fantastic. I'm fairly sure there was some pressure on Sony's part to have the PS3 remain the superior version. Sony's still way behind on market penetration, they want to move units, and they've been keeping SquareEnix in their back pockets since the mid 90s.

Yeah, I'm with Coro there. Side by side, you can tell the 360 is using lower resolution textures and probably rendering at a lower resolution, but the PS3 shots look consistently more aliased. At worst, I come away from the comparison with the accurate assumption that the PS3 is pushing more pixels, but the 360's better postprocessing masks the handicap well.

I've been watching my brother play this and aside from the characters having super retarded names, I can't really see anything that will make me not want to play this game. It looks really good.

Yeah, because Sony so totally would not dickmove people like that.

All jest aside, I know for damn sure that those pictures and videos of the Xbox version next to the PS3 version aren't screaming that I need to buy a PS3 for one goddamn game.

No need for this to devolve into a console fanboy thread now gents. We all know that each system has its positive and negative aspects that mostly equalize the results. In the case of this game, I believe that it benefits from being coded specifically for the PS3 to start with (the 360 being an afterthought) but that fact isn't enough to in any way degrade the 360 experience.

Just like with anything these days, future releases/updates will further minimize any disparities in quality.

Super retarded names just happen to coincide with the amount of extra buckles on the character I think. The more buckles on the outfit, the more retarded the name.

That's one of the thoughts I had while looking at the images. Sure, the 360's graphics look noticeably poorer compared side-by-side to the PS3, but I'd be willing to bet that 360 owners, while looking at the game in motion, will be appropriately impressed and satisfied.

However, if you have both consoles (and thus a choice in platform without extra expense), it's rather idiotic to get the demonstrably poorer one, particularly since you're paying the same amount either way.

Got to play for an hour tonight. It was fun. I liked hearing the voice for Yuri from Tales of Vesperia. Seems to fit so far.

Certainly, and sites like that provide a valuable service to people who own both consoles. It's also about time the PS3 had a dual-platform game where it made a particularly strong showing. It's really failed to impress quite a lot of potential customers.

I just picked mine up tonight. I have had a really shitty day and needed some pixel therapy. So I got this one for the PS3. Not for any reasons of performance, etc... just because I wanted to play FF on the Playstation.

Outside of Hope (who I can't stand) it's ok. I got to chapter 8 last night, so hopefully things will start picking up (at least, that's what all the reviews say).

Hope easily has my vote for worst FF character ever so far.

haven't started game yet; but it disturbs me greatly that there is no character named Cid in the manual as a character.

It was really good. This was the fourth time I've seen the Rebuild of Evangelion 1.x, from watching a bad telecam of 1.0 raw to a fansub of the Japanese release to dvd 1.01 to seeing it at a theater, and I've always enjoyed watching it. This time, of course, was on a big screen theater so it enhanced the fun.

Kids in JRPGs are ALWAYS the most annoying characters and I hate them. There's always some young dude who all angsty about some dumb ****. Balthier should have been the main character in 12, but instead they went with Vaan, who barely even has a motivation to be in the story at all. I just try to ignore Hope.

I'm on chapter 10 I think and finally unlocked the ability for everyone to be any role. The CP requirements are crazy! Gonna have to find a good farm spot.

Stunning game. I can't stand Vanille's voice though. What kind of weird accent is that?
