Here's my problem with your whole assesment of "tea-baggers" as a largely racist movement, and your ascription of that lable to the majority of the complaints against Obamedicine.

Individuals who are against socialized medicine, for whatever their individual reasons, be they genuinely misinformed, or ideologically or economically opposed are attending these town hall meetings and rallys because they don't like the idea of state run medicine. Not because they are racist. Now, that said, of course some of the people attending are racist. And unfortunatly, racist people, in their unique personal arsenals have racial language as one of their weapons. This however does not mean that the basis for the opposition was race driven. Race was simply their means, not their ends.

This also does not demonstrate, to any degree, that a majority or even sizable minority of the individuals united by this opposition to policy have that weapon in their arsenal.

I disagree just because of the demographic, who largely see themselves as self sufficent, or at least well versed as to the scope and ability of authority.

Boortz treats his callers best, followed by Limbaugh, then Savage, with Hannity a faaaar 4th, of those hosts anyway.

You forgot poor Clark Howard, who goes in between Hannity and Savage, and treats his callers the best of anybody. ;)

Correct, but he isn't a political commentator.

Last night, on Letterman, Obama downplayed (maybe even dismissed) the comment by Jimmy Carter that opposition to his policies amounts to racism.

Obama has actually been pretty unenthusiastic about the 'Racism' charge. He's smart enough to understand it will alientate him to many white voters.

My opinion is that Obama is allowing others to do his dirty work for him. If Obama stepped into another pile of racism so soon after the Gates issue, he'd really alienate more folks. So instead he lets Carter do the work for him. He gets a lot of folks fall on their sword for him. Hopefully it's Pelosi's turn.

You believe those individuals in that demographic are, in fact, racist because they are self sufficient or well versed as the the scope and ability of authority? Or is there some misunderstanding?
