Logged back in... looked at the UI and loged out... so where do I get the new UI mods?

I also need to download my spell list, as clean as my spell book is, I forgot which way up I packed it >.<

Oh also been doing research on the little merc things... they seem expensive though

Is there a way to get the original character models back?

Another neat new thing about spells. You do not have to use the spell book (per se) any more. If you right click on a spell gem, you get a drop down menu for all your spells by categories (which are fairly intuitive). Click on the spell you want and you auto sit and mem the spell (the spell book does open here, but closes once it is memed).

Also you can save spell sets (left click the minature spell book at the bottom of the spell bar) you can save, rename delete spell sets from there.

You can now (by spending AAs) have up to 12 spells slots! This is AWESOME (and needed).

Yes. There is a program in your EQ folder that is a set-up executable. You have to turn off all of the new character models from there. You HAVE to have the new character models turn on in order to use mounts (something I never use for the ranger). This is important for my cleric and mage bots and the chanter on the ranger account, so I have some new models turn on, but mostly run the old models.

The initial purchase price is based upon the your level at the time you buy it (buying one at 75th level costs a lot less than 85th level) and the type/level of the merc, such as T5 Journeyman (best) versus T1 Apprentice (worst).

After that, though the 85th level T5 Journeyman costs 95 plat every 15 minutes, that's a trivial amount to earn in that same time frame. The stackable "trash" drops from mobs in SoD and UF sell for 15 plat each, spells for several hundred and the various diamond variant gems are relatively common.

I would definitely recommend getting one. Even if you don't use it very often, they provide a level of flexibility in doing things at odd hours, or when groups are tough to find.

I second this. Plat is no where near as stingy as it used to be. If I am looting things I can easily farm 5-10K plat an hour just in vendor items, then there are tons of tradeskill items, weapons, armor, and tribute items that can be sold in the bazaar too, which far exceeds the costs of the mercs.

If someone needs plat to start a character on Tunare, let me know, I can help with that a bit too.

RD. Thanks for the update. I think I'll try it out, I'll figure out if I can set up a fast death loop and see if I can delevel in under three hours. If so I could bind in the noob zone, use expedient recover and tada, test it out. (Expedient Recovery is the 4th year Veteran AA that, when activated, will summon all active corpses to you and any corpse that is still within the rez time for EXP receives a 100% rez on each of the corpses. It also does not strip buffs, or cause rez effects, and gives you full HPs, Mana and Endurance when activated).

If anyone is starting, or has an old toon on Prexus that needs a hand, I can help there.

Bard, monk or shaman. Hmmm, choices.

Bard if you have ADD, monk if you're suicidal, and shaman if you want to feel needed in groups.

When PoP came out, people were surprised how efficient ranger tanking was. By using Braid of Golden Hair from Tunare, Flamelick and Entangling Roots, I had great aggro retention meaning the cleric could constantly be medding. Additionally, I had AA's and geared for max hp so CHeal was more effecient.

As long as there was a shaman slowing the mob, we could pull nonstop.

I tanked my ranger up through Crystallos- the stereotype was much worse than the actuality.

AC augs all the way, baby!

This has been a big improvement, and a lot more fun.

W/ mercenaries, decent starter items dropping, revamped spell lists for lowbies, it's actually like WoW, but with the classes that are more fun and specialized, IMO.

My cousin and brother were bugging me about this...so I bit the bullet and went ahead and got it last night before the offer expired. $2.50 is hard to argue with, really. I leveled up to 10 in that tutorial area place and went out on my own. Was upset I ended up in some new area after leaving, so I picked myself up and left. Found my way to High Hold and got super lost in there...eventually found my way to Kithicor and was raped by undead. Which I found odd since it was daytime. So I ran back and eventually found my way out to East Karana. Then I got back to Qeynos and bound myself. Then I had to log off because I'm playing DnD tonight. Gotta say, I'm not hating it as much as I thought I would. I'm actually...enjoying myself. Surprised I still know my way around in Qeynos, to be honest. We'll see how far I can take this.

EDIT:

Also, I made over 100 plat in that newbie area. I don't remember ever having that much at level 10. I bought a combine longsword on my way through the Karanas.

Also, I don't remember forage sucking so bad? I've pressed that **** at least 100 times and I've only gotten 1 root and leveled it to 5.

Yeah, Forage sucks balls, has for a while.

I actually went ahead and got the $2.50 package, although all I needed was SoD. Not sure if I'm going to come back or not, but it was a hard deal to pass up.

Also, I got a bunch of free items when I bought the 2.50 deal. But I had no idea how to get them. Brother found out that if you type /claim you get it all. Some mounts and other stuff.

By the way...this Defiant armor that I got in the Gloomingdeep mines off mobs...does it drop off any mob in the world or only certain areas? I understand there are different tiers of it, but I'm wondering if I can go to an old world zone to level(like, Blackburrow, for example) and still get a chance for the armor drops?

i lvled a character once who was bound in the tutorial, and tried gating there at a higher lvl. You do a double zone and get sent elsewhere (I don't remember where anymore, maybe GH?)

IIRC, the defiant armor drops everywhere now.

I gained 10 levels pretty much soloing and duoing in the last 2 weeks or so with over 200 AAs... It's lots of fun, and finding you still remember zones like the back of your hand is amazing...

You'll also find that because leveling is so much easier now, most guilds would love to have an old schooler join them as we tend to know our classes better than those who've been PLed by sony.

There's also these really fun quests to do, like throwing boomerangs at coloured wargs or raiding an old zone (e.g. guk) while only being level 50 and taking out all the bosses.

At level 75 I'm making 10k a day in plat and no longer need to camp gear to sell.

Ha! I was in Highpass leveling up(since they give me a nifty message on where to go level every time I level up) and I was killing gnolls. I checked track and saw The Fabled Grenix Mucktail, red con. So, I called my cousin over to kill him. Now I'm dual wielding the Polished Granite Tomahawk and the Fabled Polished Granite Tomahawk. HA!

It was fun. I finally got my DX3d issues fixed, and logged in...

Remembered I had 4.84 million plat sitting in the bank, and prices on most gear has nosedived since I last played.

It was nice :-D

I also logged into a guildbank full of loot that I'd left stashed, enough to outfit several alts, and a twink in almost the best gear money can buy (level 17 rogue).

I play on FV, so everything save epics is pretty much buyable.

Now I have to get my UI set back up, if I want to play again- all my keyboard maps, everything has changed.

But since my gaming computer has a rootkit virus in the hard disk controller, I won't be seriously playing for a while, anyway.

What virus does that? I've heard of the theory but hadn't realized it was in the wild...
