Having been laid off from Janus back in mid-August, immediately following my decision to start looking for work in a completely different career field, I have now secured a contract position with TIAA-CREF. I had somewhat hoped/expected to be working a little further away from my previous job environment, but I takes what I can gets. My official job title will be "Data Analyst", and it pays a little more than my last job did. Best of all, the new job location is about 2 miles from our new home location. I've just cut my commute by 66.67% :D

I am terribly jealous of all that you have.

Nice job? Check.
Beautiful wife? Check
Fat cat? Check
Happiness? Check

Oh wait, I have that stuff too... hmm... alright, cancel the jealousy, and shake+hug and a pat on a back, I guess.

I wish I could have the 6 mile commute that you gave up (18.5 for me).

Congrats!

Probably skritch the cats more. Or sleep. Or play Aion. Heck, I might even cuddle Taamar a bit here and there ;)

My commute is only about four miles each way. Flat, one bridge, surface streets, never any snow, traffic may be busy but very rarely heavy.

Still, you get to cuddle Taamar. I guess you win.

Bummer. Got to work on Monday and everybody looked at me like I was crazy for thinking I was going to be working at the Broomfield location. I spent 2 days driving 15 miles each way and paying $16/day for parking before I purchased myself a monthly bus pass. Now I get to read a book on my morning commute instead of stressing out over the drive, but it's still not as nice as the 4 mile (don't know where I got 2 from, but it was the wrong number) commute I originally thought I was getting.

I think you didn't recognize the sarcasm inherent in the wording Jasmy. The man gets to relax and read, or nap, for half an hour or so each way while someone else worries about driving in the weather and traffic. All this for a probably subsidized monthly transit fare that probably costs less than a week's parking.

It doesn't sound tortuous to me at all.
