That is in fact the best hockey brawl ever, due to the intensity of the rivalry. I'll never forget that in my lifetime. Being a huge Red Wings fan, I remember it like it was yesterday. I have yet to see a professional rivalry that has even come close to the intensity and hatred that those two teams had for each other during that era. The energy surrounding that game, even before the fight, was off the charts. The fact that it was back in Detroit, after all that'd happened, meant it was going to be a spectacle to witness. Everyone knew exactly what was going to happen before the game even started; the two teams were going to go at it, fighting all night long. The best part, the Wings won in dramatic fashion, and McCarty was the hero of Motown. Vernon getting the better of Roy was just the cherry on top.

I did like how pathetic the fight was in the OP. I really do wish hockey would go back to its glory days again. There aren't any huge rivalries anymore.

There have been a few of those types of accidents in the history of hockey. It's a huge concern when something like that happens, obviously, considering how quickly people die from having that area get sliced. It's hard to even watch. I don't know how people make it through accidents like that. The amount of blood lose is just ridiculous. The crazy thing is that it could happen at any level of hockey if people aren't wearing neck guards (which is most people, except youth hockey).
