Just kinda wondering..what do you do to relax and destress when things are getting too much?

Go away, drive an hour or so west, find a nice beach and watch the sunset. Find a diner, bring a good book, read for an hour or so while eating a comfort food dinner. Flirt with the waitress, get her to laugh, leave a nice tip, then drive the hour or so home listening to soft rock or country.

Works for me, your mileage may vary.

I usually just sort it out all in my head and then a few hours later I don't stress, and I rarely stress out anymore.

Sometimes all I need is one night off of work, caving up in the study in my underwear with my computer. Other times, spending a couple/three hours with friends and a few beers is all it takes. This stuffs relatively cheap, the biggest hurdle is getting everyones schedules in synch to meet up.

The best destessor is the full-on vacation Someplace Other Than Here, but money's holding me back from that one right now. I'll be getting 2 weeks off at the end if this month thanks to use it or lose it PTO policies, and I haven't quite figured out what exactly I'll do yet. Maybe some driving around AZ, some hiking, prolly some hanging out with my friends on a rare weekend off.

Find something to pamper yourself, Kirra. You spend 60+ hours a week taking care of others, so it's time you turn the tables and let someone take care of you, even if it's only for a day. Go spend a day getting massages or whatever at a spa :)

Exercise. Pretty much anything that works up a sweat. Lifting heavy things, doing a bunch of pull ups or push ups. I'm not a fan of long runs but I do find they help clear my head.

Maybe it's the endorphins.

Exercise. Or cocaine.

I pace. I only get stressed a couple of times a year where I need to do that though. I pace when I get totally focused too, and that happens more often.

Hold up convenience stores, rob old women at gunpoint. That sort of thing.

Nicely played. :D

Honestly, I just talk to Phe. There's no problem so insurmountable that talking to my wife (not even necessarily about the problem or stressor at hand, just in general) doesn't make better.

Barring that, I watch some Mystery Science Theater 3000 episodes (there's so much comfort to be found in knowing that we live in a world in which puppets can spend their time making fun of old movies), or play some immersive video game.

Exercise is always a good one. I can't sleep if I'm really stressed, my mind just won't slow down long enough to do it.

I find yoga and meditation quite effective as well, especially if you can get into a good rhythm. These are my go too items for stress if it's really bad.

A good video game works as well, particularly ones where I can shoot things or beat things up in a pleasing manner. Ie not the kiddie ones.

I had to learn to deal with stress as I get really bad stress related cramps if I get too worked up about something. We're talking full on hospitalization type stuff here though. I get to the point where I pretty much curl up into a ball and can't move without extreme amounts of pain (bad enough to pass out on occasion). Thankfully this hasn't happened in awhile though as I've been able to deal with things well the last few years.

Working out, going to the gym. Yoga seemed to help. But rigorous physical exertion is better.

Then the sauna and a cold shower.

Damn, I'll have to call the police in your area back and tell them you were just joking and they should stop compiling data on all the unsolved muggings and Stop n Robs and checking you out against them.

No one recommends a quick tug?

Shame.
