Um, yes, DirecTV *does* carry Vs. again. I was watching the game last night. Channel 603.

They finally settled their differences about 2 or 3 weeks before the playoffs started. I mean, I have Centre Ice, but still, when the game I wanted to watch over the season was on Vs. only, it pissed me off.

Thank you for that information damaged. Methinks it's time to go smack hubby upside the head for telling me otherwise! :P

Yeah, I was relieved when I heard the news, since when they do show games, they show them exclusively.

I do believe the Sharks are going to win this series now, being up 2-0 on the Wings.

I would just like to mention that I've never seen such erratic officiating ever in a series. Penalties that should be called on the Wings go uncalled, and then they call these pansy calls. Not only that, the same thing is happening to the Sharks. It's like the refs know they're calling so many ridiculous calls that they have to call make-up calls against San Jose for penalties that simply aren't penalties. Between both teams, I think I saw three of four of the calls as real penalties, with many let go that should have been called.

For game two, Detroit was called for 20 minutes in penalties. That's an entire period of hockey short handed, which doesn't even count the usual 5-3 they have to face each night when they're up a goal and have all the momentum.

San Jose had 8 minutes in penalties, with none coming in the last 19 minutes of the game, outside of a makeup call that put everyone on a 4-on-4 late in the game.

San Jose is playing Detroit, not Anaheim. I don't understand all of the calls and the 5 on 3's they keep facing in this series. Even in the last game, where the penalties were pretty even, there were still a lot of penalties called for a game that wasn't even that dirty. I'm not saying they have it in for the Wings. I'm just saying the officiating has been pretty horrendous overall, regardless of who the calls have been going against.

With all that said, I'm not taking anything away from San Jose. I honestly believe they're the better team in this series right now. That's what makes it even more amazing that the Wings are only losing by a goal in these games. They're the worse team, literally down a man all night long, and they manage to hang in there. I just don't think Detroit will have it in them to pull themselves out of this hole this time. They aren't the same team as last year.

It would appear that the Wings will be seeing an earlier exit than usual this year. At this point, the Sharks are just the team that wants it more, clearly. Even with a two goal lead, they let if fall apart, this time without the help of refs. Now there's no excuses. I wish the Sharks well for future rounds, as they deserve to get to the finals for a change. In fact, our local minor league team is a farm team for the Sharks, so I guess it makes it easier to handle seeing them move on.

Where did my Bruins go, and who replaced them with guys who have backbones?

Aye, they are dead in the water now. Might as well put Ozzy in for game four and call it a year.

Game 5 will be pretty much the pivotal game of the series. If the Wings manage to steal one on the road, it's back in D-town for a series that will have seen a complete momentum shift, with lots of hope left. Come on boys, just try and push it to a game 7 and see what happens. You only lost by 1 goal in each of the first three games, even with the ice tilted completely the wrong direction because of the ridiculous number of penalties, specifically 5-on-3's. You have the Sharks flustered, despite only having one game in the series. Come out strong in game 5 and see what happens. As of right now, they were very fortunate to be up 3-0 in the series. If you watched the games 1-3, you wouldn't think either team would be up 3-0 in the series, as it was just that close. I haven't seen such a close, hard-fought series start out 3-0 in quite a long time. Just keep bringing it like you have every game this series. You guys haven't played bad hockey. Fight through your, what are frighteningly becoming a regular thing, 5-on-3's on Saturday, and capitalize on your opportunities. Know that when you have a 1 or 2 goal lead, you're going to be penalized, probably in the bunches. Don't let that stop you. Put even more points on the board like you did tonight. Refs can't influence a 7-1 game; they can influence a 3-2 game where both teams are playing very close.

With all that said, Detroit is still toast. San Jose has only outplayed Detroit one game so far in this series, with two of SJ's other wins being very close games. What I'm saying is that San Jose is due to have a dominant performance where they clearly outplay their opponent. I look for San Jose to come out strong and score some even strength goals for a change. Both teams are bound to have a great performance in at least one game of the series. San Jose's turn is up next.

An interesting statistic from this series so far:

Of their 12 goals in this series, San Jose has scored 6 PP Goals so far. With 6 PP goals, you'd think they've had a fantastic PP percentage for the series. In fact, they are only 6 for 33 (18%), which puts them last among active teams in the playoffs for PP%. Now, consider that 3 of those 6 PP goals occurred during a 5-on-3, and you begin to see that their PP really isn't that great...it's just the sheer number of penalties being called that attribute to half of their goals being PP goals. In fact, two of the game changing goals in game 1 and 2 (meaning the goals that either tied the game up or gave SJ the lead) occurred by virtue of one of these 5-on-3 powerplays. If they don't get those 5-on-3's, it could be an entirely different series. Judging by Detroit's play of this series, it wouldn't be out of the question for them to have already swept San Jose based on their performance. It really has been that fine of a line in this series. Both teams are pretty equal, but it's been an interesting series. It goes to show that performing pretty well isn't always enough, and one goal can mean a lot.

Yup. I thought there was a real chance the last 6-on-4 would result on happiness, but no.
Here's to the Sharks second time in the Conference Final.

Heh... I knew I'd get a chance to se the 09-10 Bruins again this year. Everyone but Rask and Lucic should be available. **** spineless.

That was pathetic. I'm glad I gave up on hockey and the Bruins years ago when the strike occurred. Bunch of pansies giving up a 3-0 lead... twice. Game 7 was the ultimate microcosm of the series.

San Jose and Montreal both need to figure out how to find the net or they're going to the golf course soon.

Wouldn't break my heart to see San Jose go, though. My brother would never hear the end of it.
