I so hope this is a PlanetSide 2 announcement, not Free to Play. Although, Free to Play might bring it back to critical mass, I don't really appreciate how it evolved post-caverns. It was truly a better game when there weren't barriers to certs except shallow cert pre-reqs (so that going through the training VR modes would allow you enough to cert any one thing if you wanted it).

When my friend reactivated, they sent him a survey asking what he'd want to see in Planetside 2. I'd say its an almost certainty.

Hmm. Interestingly enough, as I googled around a bit today, looking for speculation or rumors of what the upcoming announcement would entail, I noticed that SOE already announced it was working on Planetside 2. So that's off the list. And, curiously, the announcement assured that the original wasn't going away.

So that leaves my guesses as : Planetside free to play, Planetside 2 beta signup info/surprise starting with all subscibers given initial access, or some meaty, surprising announcement about the direction Planetside 2 will take to make it unexpectedly divergent from the original (thus allowing both to coexist).
