Basically, but there's a point at which even Exempt employees are entitled to overtime pay. And I'm fairly certain that's in-excess of 60 hours. Hence, doctors, professors, etc. get paid on contract terms and are not subject to the FLSA.

Not all salaried employees are exempt, which is why the 2004 revision to the FLSA that you posted is so significant. It codifies and reinforces the difference between salaried and exempt. Of course the duties "required" to be exempt are so vague and elastic that you can easily reclassify most salaried positions to exempt status to avoid the overtime concerns all together.

This right here is what got my company screwed. They were working people in some departments 65+ hours a week and then someone complained. Suddenly in comes the labor department and hit the company hard.

I am assuming that they did not classify the jobs as exempt then but rather as salaried non-exempt?

We went through the 2004 Revision here at the university. All non-Exempt employees became hourly at the recommendation of both the State and Federal Department of Labor. Indeed, unless they were contract employees (Professors), we were told by government officials they could not non-Exempt Salaried.

I'd post their statute but damn, the GA DOL website is about 1 step below useless. It's set up like a PR firm.

So I worked 64 hours last week, 69 hours this week, and I have to work this weekend as well.

I would assume that is the case, I am not completely sure though. I got a check for close to 3k though, so I was happy.
