If you flop like that and grab whatever in such extreme agony, you should be taken off the field on a stretcher and not permitted to return until the next period.

Done.

Borrow the "hurt" player rules from US Football and require a substitution for the "hurt" player.

If you can't get back up and play on, you need to be off the field.

It's very possible the US/UK will end up like that.

It seems like total goals scored during the qualifiers would be a better criteria.

I saw that play when it happened. That penalty kick should not have happened. Italy should have lost that match.

Any temptation I might have had to become an international 'football' fan has been completely lost after watching these farces....

This seemed appropriate.

First 4 groups as it stands atm.

Group A
South Africa - 1 draw, 1 loss, and 1 win with 3 goals
Uruguay - Through to the next round with 2 wins
France - Going home with 1 draw, 2 loss
Mexico - 1 draw, 1 loss, and 1 win with 3 goals

Mexico is going through to the next round, guess they got lucky with the hat.

Group B
Argentina - Through to the next round with 3 wins (like duh)
South Korea - Through to the next round with 1 draw, 1 loss, 1 win.

Greece - Going home with 2 loss and 1 win
Nigeria - Going home with 1 draw and 2 loss

Next part is current score

Group C
England - 2 draws with 1 goal
USA - 2 draws with 3 goal
Slovenia - 1 draw, 1 win
Algeria - 1 draw, 1 loss

If the US wins their next match, they are through, same for england. If they both draw then US wins on current goals (unless england draws on 2/2, then you'll be praying)

Group D
Germany - 1 loss, 1 win
Serbia - 1 loss, 1 win
Australia - 1 draw, 1 loss
Ghana - 1 draw, 1 win

In order for australia to have a chance of going to the next round we need Ghana to win Germany and to crush Serbia. I have been and will continue to pray >.<

I know >.< and you can say I told you so all you'd like... but I gotta support my country!

In 2006 we were robbed of a chance at the top 8 by stupid annoying refs who I hope die in a fire started by hobgoblins!... *huffpuff* and I was kinda hoping for another miracle considering we technically have a better team than 4 years ago.

Unfortunately thats the downside to hope, it lacks logic... SOOOOoooo... I'm hoping Ghana is good enough to kick Germany ***, so that we get a chance at the next round tehe.

Actually, Lydiaa, I don't believe it's how the goal comparisons work.

If two teams are tied in points, the tie-breaker is the score of the game between the two teams. Since the UK and the US had a draw, if they tie in points, a coin is flipped to determine who goes.

Keeping up with live updates of the US game and it seems the US is screwed on a goal again.

We clearly did. I'm convinced there's anti-US bias amongst the refs. We overcame despite that. That's what Americans freakin' do. So proud of USA clearly outplaying Algeria and finally having something to show for it. Time to take on Ghana!

Don't worry Lydiaa, Team USA will avenge the coin toss against our favorite mates.

Would have been a heck of a game though, USA vs. Australia.

What was your first clue? The fact that England got through the first game without a red card? Or that it took two elbows, inside the **** box, to get a red card against Algeria? Or that the U.S. has had 3 legitimate goals disqualified?

I was willing to give the refs a break and assume they were just bad calls. But they go too consistently against US Soccer. By the last match, it was just way too obvious, especially after Dempsey was elbowed to the face that should have resulted in a penalty kick.

That's a great video. I only wish I were in a bar like those people when the play occurred. Hopefully, if the US wins tomorrow, I can find a bar in Chicago to watch it next weekend for the 4th of July. Can you imagine how insane it'd be to watch it in a group like that, with the US winning, on Independence Day weekend?

I'll put my US pride aside for the moment to become a fan of another country, and I'm sure you all will too. Check out this fan!

Or you could be carried off the field on a stretcher for NO REASON and sit upright the whole way and as soon as the get you offsides stand up and walk away showing that you were just being an *** and wasting time....

Frustrating to watch the US Ghana game. The US seemed far too tentative in the final 30 minutes and too passive in general. They allowed themselves to be physically beat, it seemed to me. Not as aggressive as they were towards the end of regulation time.

As everyone else said, the dives in this game are just absurd. I really dont know how they live with themselves when they take a BS dive like that. I'd be embarrassed as hell.

That and they need something more along the lines of hockey with regards to offsides.
