So I moved yesterday. Everything moved, not much unpacked. Getting the bedroom unpacked I somehow mamage to kick Lisa's hope chest she got from her grandmother. And I really think i may have broken my pinky toe.

This hurts much

Ouch!! Been there, done that...a few times...on each foot! Not much you can do for a pinkie toe either, at least that's what the doctors have told me the couple of times I actually went in.

Ice it if it's swollen, you can tape it to the next toe to immobilize it if you want...best thing is to wear an open shoe/sandal on that foot til it heals a bit.

/hugs

I've broken both of my little toes in much the same way (thankfully not at the same time!).

Other than the advice Jasmy gave, there really isn't much you can do for it.

One of mine was slightly displaced, so I went to the ER. They told me that they wouldn't bother to reset it, and just taped it to the next toe over. He said if it was bad enough to require surgery, they would likely just remove it, because the bones are too small/thin for screws and pins.

Not a terribly important piece of the human anatomy, but painful none-the-less...

Uhm,

When you go see a doctor about it, be sure to mention you are a diabetic and heal slowly. Mention your avoidance of pain medication based on personal history. Ask if you will need to adjust any medication you are on to deal with the pain levels and healing factors. Ask if you will need antibiotics to avoid infection. If you've added any ink lately, let them know.

Jasmy and Midgen give good advice, but it never hurts to remind the doctors when you have special conditions they really need to be aware of.

Just amputate the little **** for **** with you.

That'll show it who's boss.

Then, make it into a necklace.

Eddie's dad said it best though: "Only Jesus could work effectively in sandals"

Ouch, sorry to hear. I slam my pinky toes all the time, have probably broken them and not known it. Yours sounds pretty painful, though, that sucks.

Taping it is probably a good idea - my wife broke hers (one of those portable radiators fell on it), and that was all they recommended. But, it's something.

But, yeah, it sucks when you screw up your courage and get over your hangups to go to the doctor about something, only to be told that there's nothing they're really willing or able to do. Kind of puts a damper on going back.

Here is the shitty part Mus... I was not working. We had finished with the moving, and I was chillaxing after the fact. Someone called me and I kicked the hope chest. I would not have worn sandals to move a house... that is dumb.

Sorry to hear that ds, it's probably worse that you know what the remedy is, and it isn't any good.

I broke the toes next to my big toe on both feet (they stick out further than my big toes) years ago, and only found out recently. Thank God I learned to kick properly.

I believe amputation is a viable treatment option here.

yeah.. call me silly... but the diabetic is NOT going to be rushing to start the amputation process on his limbs.

Stick to your guns, DS!! My brother lost his leg, then his life to diabetes...he didn't take care of himself! You keep going the way you are going and live a long and happy life! :)

Just say NO to amputations!! :D

Just to be clear, I was not suggesting that DS actually cut off his toe. I was just relating my own experiences.

Both of my broken pinky toes have healed just fine, although one of them looks a little funny. :)
