In a nutshell: Potentially life saving seizure medication developed to be able to be administered by a layperson is being blocked by unions so only nurses or medical personnel can give it:

once again... Union leaders, executed in the town square to serve as an example.

This is one of those few times when I feel "Think of the Children" is really a valid argument.

/shudder
I feel dirty just saying that.

Let me edit this and say the following:

My daughter is my world. If something happened and she was killed due to negligence on the part of some doctor. I would go psychotic. And if the union pulling some bullshit like this is why my daughter died... I would harm as many of the union leaders as I could before they got me. And I would get some of them.

Yes, yes. Unions are evil. They work for the benefit of their members. Look how evil they are, with their evil 40 hour work weeks, their evil health care benefits, and the way they eeeeevily protect their members. Evil I say! Like, long mustache evil.

Unions are exactly like corporations, their only responsibility is to their members or stockholders, and if the way to make the most profit for those people is to rape small children than they should do it. This is not a surprise. The only thing that's surprising is thatlibs rage when corporations engage in bastardy and conservatives rage when unions engage in the same, yet both will turn a blind eye when the others do so.

Exactly true.

Unions have a primary duty to get the most benefits for their members as possible.

Corporations have a primary duty to make as much cash as possible for their employees/stockholders/owners.

I don't know why people are continually surprised when these entities do things corresponding to those duties.

Insightful.

If you have no counter argument, it's clearly better to loudly mock what you don't like than to just shut the **** up.

Insightful.

You really need to carry this out to the next degree, all organizations are like corporations. They take on their own identity, culture, values and norms that go beyond the individual members.

Corporations and Unions might be similar in the fact that they are trying to get the most for their stockholder/members and what not...but what you fail to mention is that corporations can actually produce useful things for society, while unions provide absolutely nothing for society as a whole.

Except a 40 hour work week, vacation/sick time, benefits, safer working conditions, living wages and child-labor laws.

You should study labor relations a bit before making such bold statements.

Now if you want to argue that the pendulum has swung too far to the labor side we can entertain that but historically they were directly responsible for the above list.

Unions should be, and used to be, a check against abuse and a means for workers to be heard.

Unfortunately, because of their protected status within certain political factions and outright favoritism in legislation and political support, whatever usefulness they had it lost, and in my opinion, the good that was achieved in the past is completely overshadowed by the harm since.

Except we have those things already. Unions don't do anything for non-union members now.

Ah if we want to talk about now that is a different story. Unions are definitely entrenched in maintaining the status quo at all costs. However, you could still make the argument that the very threat of Unionization raises the standard of non-union shops. If an employer pushes too hard they run the admittedly dwindling risk that the workers will file.

Also insightful. I have said exactly that in the past. I frequently lump Government, "Organized Religion", big public Corporations, and Unions into the same category. They're all problematic in the same way.
