Generally speaking, the costs undocumented workers incur are minimal, and their presence has been shown to raise wages for legal workers in the area. Undocumented workers use social services at a lower rate than legal residents, they are less likely to commit crimes, and they work their asses off, usually at multiple jobs. Many of them wind up paying taxes, all of them pay sales tax - the Othering that Hispanic immigrants face, especially in places like Arizona, is undeserved. But, like many immigrant populations before them, it's really about scaring the establishment into donating and voting.

No it hasn't. It only raises wages on paper because the average wage for legal workers now doesn't include the minimum wage jobs now being done by illegals for even less. The people that held those jobs, or would ahve held them aren't counted because they aren't now workers, and the illegals are not counted because its illegal to employ them so their income isn't reported.

In other words, they take more than one job from an American, and remove that job from counting for average wage, thus artificially appearing to jack up wages even more.



So what?



They aren't being othered. Illegals are not a group defined by some attribue; they are defined by their own actions; their illegal presence in this country. They cannot be "othered" any more than armed robbers can be "othered" or KKK members can be "othered"; it's a group you "other" yourself into by choosing to belong.

Ok on Monte's first point DE Right it's a false inflation of reported wages. It's Jobs that aren't going to citizens and be taxed as part of the whole. As for the ones that that are paying taxes they are doing so under stolen identities.

Social services you have to be kidding.
With the unreported income and no job documentation they can access WIC programs, food stamps and indigent health care, and they use them. There's a reason hospitals are in trouble.
Not counting the burden they put on education system being outside the system, they don't pay property taxes thus funding the schools. and yet we support ESL programs. In fact their is a foreign language requirement in Schools in AZ. Try to find a School that has a language program other than Spanish.
In the last 8 years I've had my property tax increase 58% even with a huge drop in property values they have refused to lower tax assessment, unless you file a legal appeal.

Less likely to commit crimes
No drivers license (crime) that leads to no insurance (crime) which ends up with hit and run accident(crime). Pushing the insurance costs off onto the Legal citizens. If you have a car that you have full coverage on and want to get rid of it I can tell you where to park it so that it WILL be stolen.
Then the best one of all Identity theft(crime) I have first hand experience with this one, Reported income under my SSN triggered an IRS audit last year, my cost to date. $18000.

Work ethic
I grant that there are some the will bust their *** for honest wages, but the majority want fast money and at the wages they take the work is substandard.
Who would you hire a carpenter that takes pride in their work or some illegal that just wants money. Don't even ask about job site theft most goes unreported and is considered the cost of doing business.

Sales taxes if they could get around that they would or maybe they do, food stamp trading is a big thing.

Please Illegals are a drain on every aspect of society healthcare, education, law enforcement, social services, insurance, employment, The list is endless.
