Bachmann looks to be a pretty standard center-right candidate to me, no idea where you get the idea that she's a far-right wingnut. The only thing I've ever seen from her that qualifies as far right are her comments about the gay community.

To be fair, she's not in my district so I don't pay much attention to her fiscal policies. They may be the usual republican non-sense that I disagree with but fairly mainstream. He social policies are completely wacked out.

Bachmann's public comments in recent years include (i) references to armed revolution in response to cap and trade proposals; (ii) encouraging people to not answer detailed Census questions because such questions may be a step toward WWII-style internment camps run by ACORN; (iii) claiming that judges are banning the Pledge of Allegiance and exhorting kids to give homosexuality a try; (iv) implying that Democrats are either responsible for swine flu or engaged in some conspiracy to hype it; (v) arguing that US participation in the G20 is a step toward a "one world order" global government; (vi) calling for media investigations of "anti-American" members of Congress; (vii) introducing legislation to prohibit replacing the US Dollar with any foreign/global currency; (vii) comparing AmeriCorps to "re-education camps"; and (viii) claiming that federal education policy is fostering a "socialist, globalist worldview" that encourages loyalty to all governments instead of America. And that's without even getting into the whole Christian fundamentalist angle (e.g. creationism in schools, Constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage, God directly intervening in her campaigns, etc.).

I'm no fan of Republicans these days, but I certainly wouldn't call that "standard center-right" ideology.
