It depends entirely on the friend, and what music they enjoyed. It would be a mix of things that I thought they would love but ones that most definately had my influence on them.

So for instance if he was a big country fan (I'm not really) I'd probably include Johnny Cash's version of Rusty Cage. Things like that.

Unfortunately, music is much too personal a thing to be able to give blanket suggestions without knowing the people involved pretty well.

Case in point is that I think the Travelling Wilbury's suck ***, so I would never include, nor enjoy a CD with Rynar's suggestion. Doesn't make either of us "wrong" just very different tastes in music.

Yeah, depends on the friend I guess. My wife is my best friend, and I wouldn't just give her a CD of my favorite stuff... in fact I guess if I never was going to see her again I would be too busy flipping out to burn a CD.
