Netflixed Avatar recently, so figured I'd see what Cameron's ex-better half took Best Picture for.

Excellent movie. It's one of those movies that really hits you after you see it and give it time to sink in. It also re-affirms my belief that I would never make it in the Armed Forces. Also thankful that I don't live in Iraq :P

Acting was about the best I have seen in recent memory (Jeremy Renner deserves every award he won, and I think he won like all of them offered). The visuals were gritty, realistic, and absorbing.

Definite recommend.

^^^
From a visual/art direction standpoint, I agree.

From an acting/dialogue standpoint, Hurt Locker kicks the crap out of Avatar.

Not everyone in the armed services do that sort of thing...

Hurt Locker is steak and eggs, while Avatar is cotton candy. I think he's trolling. ;)

True enough, but boy do they like sending folks off to the most dangerous areas. If I had a nice behind the scenes, will never have to go to the frontlines position in the military, it wouldn't be so bad. Like the exo-suit remote operator.

Hurt Locker was ok. I don't think it was really anything special in terms of cinematic achievements.

But that's just me.

It's more of a "hey, remember that war we were having? What? It's still going on?!" CNN won't cover it until it is dramatized in cinema.

I'm glad she's here to say that about everything she has no interest in in every thread about something she has no interest in so we all know. It's good to know what Taly thinks about everything, even if she's only saying "meh." That meh speaks volumes. :|
