Yeah, what Riov said. I don't know the exact numbers, but there is a pretty steep exp bonus for earning AA below certain thresholds.

The idea being to help newer players, or old players with new classes, catch up on the critical AA. Critical being what is assumed to held when the Dev's are balancing content around character abilities and the number it takes to get there.

Pre-HoT and not including things like Glyphs, AA for rangers caps at 5670ish (don't recall exactly, haven't looked in forever). That's the highest total for any class, and after HoT, the total will be around 7600 iirc.

Of course, not all of those are useful, and some have been obsolete by the inclusion of other AA, but our primary means of DPS is melee for non-burn or mini-burn situations, and archery for burn sequences when coupled with specific activated AA, and we also need to be able to tank, and CC... its a daunting list of AA for rangers to work on.

The person that explained it to me told me the cap breaks are at 500/1500/2000, where it scales up. And that the change is to remove the first two so you get the full AA exp bonus all the way to 2000 AA's.

Bottom line is, this change won't affect the rate you gain AA exp if you are under 500. If you are over 500 and under 2000 (if those in fact are the correct numbers, i've heard several versions), then you will see an increase... over 2000 is also unchanged.

At least thats how I think I understand it, unless I'm wrong, which is likely....

They're revamping the bonus AA curve as a whole:

Now it starts with a 500% bonus at 0 AAs, and scales linearly to a 0% bonus at 2500.

Before it was a weird sin/cos function going from 225% at 0 AAs to 0% at 1250 AAs.

There were never "breaks" before, it was a smooth decline with every AA you gained. And it wasn't at 2000 before, it was at 1250 *supposedly* there were some that thought the move from 1000 to 1250 for the max cap wasn't properly encoded so it still stopped at 1k.

Good information, thanks Nephyr. I was already well past the caps for the bonus when it was implemented, so I never really paid attention.

However, I've been leveling up a couple alts to duo with and have been looking at the AA scene.

On the positive, with the exp bonus weekend, I got an enc to 33 and a shaman to 28 in about 3-4 hours each.

Aye, I was over 1250 when they first implemented it, but I'm still under 2500 now, so it should be a nice boost for grinding out some of the ranks I've missed in the last two years.
