I think that's an excellent idea.

I don't want to see us either leave people behind or have them stagnate; I think keeping alts in one range and mains in another works well for that.

This is a great idea, and more or less what I'm doing, minus the tag of 'main' or 'alt'. I'll be happy to keep a decently geared toon at 52 to support any efforts to take down the two dragons.

Also,

If anyone is interested,I'd be happy to walk you through what I know about shrouding (which is very little) in game.

The wizard I used to group with Kyvas at level 20 was pretty gimp. He basically had 3 DD spells (fire, frost and thunder), a stun, a lev and an ultravision spell. It served the purpose of providing a little extra damage to Kyvas' questing activities, but the shrouds are by no means as efficient as your real toon, even at the same level.

I'm guessing that they are not used much (probably for the reasons that NephyrS mentioned). While grouped with Kyvas in Blightfire Moor's a Guide came up to us and complimented me on my 'Illusion'. I explained that it was a shroud. She seemed a bit befuddled. =)

The shroud NPC is near the small Dogle Pit bank (opposite direction from the guild lobby, i guess that is East?). I forget the name, but it's a Vah Shir NPC standing under a tree there. You've all run by a million times. Just hail her and she will pop up a window with your options.

Once you've made your selection, and assumed your shroud, you use the AA screen to spend 'points' to boost the effect of that shrouds skills (mana preservation, damage increase, cleave, etc...). Also, you won't have access to your main toons inventory or any of their skills. You get some very basic equipment and one bag provided to your shroud. You can access your shared bank from your shroud to make any deposits, etc... Any items you leave in your shrouds bags when you de-shroud, will be put into a temporary shroud bank, that will disappear after a given amount of time (forget the specifics). You won't be able to assume a new shroud until you've removed everything from your shroud bank.

I have vague recollections of doing 'monster missions' in shroud form in my previous playing days. I don't recall the specifics of how to start them, but they were some kind of instanced dungeon with specific objectives similar to an LDoN as I recall. Maybe someone else has more detail, and can explain how to start one? =)

I should also mention that you gain "shroud exp" while shrouded, that unlocks more powerful shrouds of the same type.

So you have your wizard imp shroud, which has 4 or 5 levels- as you gain shroud exp, you gain access to the later "levels" of the shroud.

It's usually a painfully slow process.

And as gimp as your Shroud was at 20..... They get gimper as you go.

I think that's a pretty good idea. At 60 there's a hell of a lot more useful AAs to buy (like, all of the ones from the original AA set) so there's not nearly as much risk of maxing out banked AA.

I don't recall Vox and Nagafen dropping anything that couldn't be obtained off of Gorenaire or Talendor.

They don't, it's just the nostalgia of the encounters.

We made the call in group last night with Zy, Goji, Kirah and Duff to click over to 61 to open up some more AA choices.

since planes of power was unlocked, doing the various quests/kills to unlock the access to the planes grants free AA's

Aye, for each plane you gain access to, you get an AA.

But it has to be the old style "real" flagging, or the actual backflagging quests, not simply access by your level.

I think we're all going to 61 at this point to open up more AAs. Both Midg's toons and I are well over 100 now. I have plenty of good ones to buy, but they are going fast. It's also nice to get a level of Planar Power and get at least some use out of these excess stats.

Actually the Rogue barely dented 100, but Goji is just short of 150. Interestingly even at 150 there are still plenty of decent things to buy for the druid at 60. But I'm really struggling with the rogue to find valuable things to buy at 100. The spell casting makes it a lot easier for her. The rogue doesn't have spell casting AA's to buy, so she will benefit more than the druid will.

And hyrbrids are always easy- rangers especially.

All the tanking AAs, all the DPS AAs, all the healing AAs, and all the DPS Spell AAs.....

Yeah the SK has an assload of stuff to buy. I'm sort of spoiled for choice.

Assuming I don't need a key I was thinking about razzing old seb for cash and binding powders tonight. If anyone wants to join me maybe we can hunt for clickies too or maybe even take on our namesake himself.

I think we've all talked about this, and I think it's pretty much time to level up a bit more. I know there are still some velious things we wanted to do, but Goji is at 350 AA's and is running out of stuff to buy, and Kirah is at 250 or so and is also running out of viable options.

I'll probably turn experience back on on those two (maybe Kimo too) and level up a bit. I haven't decided where to stop. Originally I was thinking I'd just go to 62 and max out my AA's again, but now that I've discovered the DoN progression, I'm starting to think maybe 65 would be a good goal, and would give a lot more choices in AA's.

Thoughts ?

I think 65 is the obvious next stopping point. Although timing is crappy, I'd almost caught the pack on Hazzard! =)

DoN has been fun the last couple of evenings, but to get 65 spells we're going to have to do some PoP since no-one else seems to be making these available in the bazaar now.

I'm in agreement that 65 is a good stopping point although I intened to take it slow getting there.

Will be back on tonight in a little over an hour, too.
