I turn off "heated dry" on the dishwasher. Waste of electricity. |

Waste of 'electricity, and a good way to melt little plastic bits. |

I didn't either until about 5 years ago. Children = little plastic bits. |

I'm pretty sure it's been upside down glasses and right-side up bowls in Wisconsin and I know it's been that way in California. However, dust in glasses or bowls compared to the edge you may drink from (or slurp from, if slurping your soup) being dirty is a double-edged sword. It's not a matter of using a rack or not using a rack... it's a matter of no good solution to the question without compromising based on conditions that are different from person to person, place to place. I am glad that it's been a source of some discussion. |

Right side up for everything. If the dishwasher doesn't dry it I have dishtowels to finish the job! |

Up and up. Toilet paper over, but I think we've already had that conversation. |

If you guys are so worried about dust, why don't you do a quick rinse before using it? Or leave them in the dishwasher? |

Beer glasses and mugs face down, coffee and other types of cups face up. Bowls/plates/etc all face up. Not sure why I only put certain glasses upside down. |
