I don't personally like the packaged flavours asian food tend to move towards... blending the flavours so none are prominant to cater to the more western palette.

pushing the boundaries of spicy, sweet, salty and sour while giving them interesting twists and still making them yummy is what authentic chinese food is really about.

I could go for that. Many creative and tasty things have been made from me raiding the fridge and working with what I have.
Huh. Where's Arafys when you need him? Someone tell him to go start a game called "Raiding the fridge." Post a list of the contents of your fridge and then see who can come up with the most creative recipes....that would be fun I think.

interestingly enough, most noodle type food doesnt taste that great IN vietnam. their seafood is to die for though.

You've been to Vietnam? That's cool. I have two brothers from there but I've never been there...I used to watch their vietnamese movies with them even though I didn't understand a word. It looked like a beautiful place.

I could have gone, but I would have had to enlist. I was born on a luckier day than those my age who did. The draft and the war were pretty much over by the time I would have been drafted.

No Lydiaa is an overseas Chinese from Suzhou, China who lives in Australia.

Yeah I'm working my way around asia before I start on the US. And eventually when I'm older and richer, I'll start on europe *mumbles about exchange rates*. It's def a place you'd want to visit, very tropical, strong in culture and the food is yummah if you don't mind the stomach aches. Love of fish sauce is a must for most dishes.
