My formerly Linksys, now Linksux, wireless pci adapter is not compatible with Windows 7 (64 bit), and apparently the new drivers will be ready maybe by the time Windows 8 comes out. So I'm in the market for a new wireless NIC.

Coincidentally, my wireless DSL gateway is now starting to stop working consistently. So I need either a new gateway or a modem/router combo.

So any suggestions as to a combination that doesn't suck?

Requirements are:
1. Must be windows 7 64 bit compatible (and XP 32 bit compatible--I'll have both OS on the box)
2. Wireless G or N
3. Mainstream pricing (no $200 routers please, but I can afford more than 50 bucks)
4. Wireless NIC must be pci, or I suppose pcie 1x would work too if that is an option.
5. Router/gateway must support both wired and wireless connections
6. Not suck (meaning a minimum of random disconnects and lag spikes).

Tell me what works!

I love DLink's offerings. I've never had complaints. Recently, DFK!'s wireless was being fritzy, but I tracked down a driver update for his card (not a DLink -- chipset integrated) and as far as I know (he hasn't complained since), that resolved it.

Their routers have always provided an intuitive, simple, interface that serves both power users (granular filtering, port-forwarding, and throttling options in many models) to basic users (easy setup and forget it).

They have good troubleshooting options. I love being able to ping from my router. It makes lying to the cable company much easier "Yes, my computer is plugged directly into the modem."

Whenever I compare my DLinks to other peoples' LinkSyses, it always amazes me that LinkSys is the one that's owned by Cisco.
