I appreciate the elaboration, Coro, but I guess I just don't get the difficulty in understanding Heckfire's intended culture.
Basically, it's easy to get heated when discussing controversial topics, particularly on the internet, so Heckfire's separate existence serves as a reminder to keep our cool there, and the mods will step in when we fail to do so. Of course it'll be semi-arbitrary and subjective, because this isn't a formal debating society and the mods are only human, but they do their best to be fair and reasonable. And hey, I say that as one of the few people so far who actually did lose my sh*t in Heckfire and got dinged for it!
Not trying to be a suck-up to the mods or anything, but I really just can't wrap my head around the objections. *shrug*
Except, the entire **** problem is that the bolded portion doesn't happen.
It's bullshit, in its entirety. For example, Micheal broke the rules in a thread I just read in Heckfire! and
directly insulted Elmo. No moderator has "stepped in." Why? Well, first of all, a moderator violated the rules, so it must be ok. Second, because they're only responding to reports, I'm sure, just as we were when I was a mod. Third, and lastly, because nobody has reported it because
reporting things gets you a formal warning from Dash.
Furthermore, having subjective rules being "ok" is absolutely retarded. Find me another community discussion forum that has rules that are wholly subjective. I find it unlikely for you to find one. Biased forums and/or forum rules? Sure. Subjective ones? No way.
Know why? It drives people away from the community.
Taskiss:
Your continuing personal insults aside, I have no issue being ruled against by the moderation. What I have an issue with is continuing to feel offended by your behavior and having nothing done about it, so I continued to report you each time it seemed you were violating the rules, as they were separate infractions. Thus, 3 total reports, plus one from you, for a total of 4. Considering I'm sure each of those was on a separate post, the idea that its spamming reports, whining to the moderator by either party, or abusing the moderation staff in some way is ludicrous and stupid.
I'm sure you gave solid reasoning in your report, as I felt I did in each of mine. Had Dash, or any other moderator, said something akin to "I disagree that these are violations" that would have been fine, and I'd have made my dialogue in Heckfire! more coarse in response to perceived insults to reflect what I felt was coarse dialogue.
Instead, Dash decides that people reporting things is bad, something he's done before, and goes off like a cock. Fair enough, but nobody should expect me, or anybody, to be treated like that and not be pissed off about it.
I haven't been on the forum for the better part of the week because of this thing, and while I'm sure some of you people think I'm a dick and don't care if I phase myself out, I'm finding it harder to return the longer I'm gone because of the rampant stupidity of the policy here.
