Bullshit:

I'm not saying I don't agree a lot of rhetoric and talk on both sides is based on hate, but your fiat declaration here is a prime example of your unwillingness to step back and really examine what it is you are saying.

edited for clarity

It is not by fiat. Ive already posted the text of the man's pre-rampage letter, and in that letter, he specifically names the right wing hate book that inspired him to go kill people. That's a direct connection between hate speech on the right and a terrorist attack against liberals.

Furthermore, your comment here serves absolutely no purpose other than to extend criticism to a poster, and not the post. Why would you want to waste all our time in such a fashion?

The fact that almost everything you declare is only asserts your opinion on the matter and that it's clear as "daylight" to you (which isn't even clear since the atmosphere is a participating medium) but not to anyone else.

Thus, every thing you post is predicated on something that cannot be proven or disproven.

As for wasting time, I think the biggest waste of time is the constant posts laced with logical fallacies and flat-out nonsense. Since your posts serve no other purpose (since the only assert your opinion) it would be ironic you would accuse anyone of wasting time with pointless rhetoric.

The logical conclusion, then, is that you have a huge problem with these books for their hate speech (Dear Lord two of them are written by a SENATOR!!!):

101 People Who Are Really Screwing America

Rush Limbaugh Is a Big Fat Idiot

Lies and the Lying Liars Who Tell Them: A Fair and Balanced Look at the Right

The I Hate Ann Coulter, Bill O'Reilly, Rush Limbaugh, Michael Savage, Sean Hannity. . . Reader: The Hideous Truth About America's Ugliest Conservatives

Brainless: The Lies and Lunacy of Ann Coulter

Sweet Jesus, I Hate Bill O'Reilly

Soulless: Ann Coulter and the Right-Wing Church of Hate

The Worst Person In the World: And 202 Strong Contenders

The GOP-Hater's Handbook: 378 Reasons Never to Vote for the Party of Reagan, Nixon and Bush Again

The Bush - Haters Handbook: A Guide to the Most Appalling Presidency of the Past 100 Years

American Fascists: The Christian Right and the War on America

Logically, because the inspiration by a book to violent attacks is so crucial (and by inspiration you mean merely mentioning a book in a four page screed by a lunatic), this book must be TEH DEBIL!!!:

The Catcher in the Rye

It's supposed to be insulting. Innacurate, however, it is not.

Just so we all understand that the board rules are effectively out of use, DE.

So report the violation. Quit trying to create precedent by which you can whine that we've stopped upholding them.

How is that an infraction of the board rules? He insulted "the Left", not you. You admitted to making ad hominem attacks against people not members of this board such as Rush Limbaugh (not that I'm defending Rush).

Neither is against the rules.

/slap me w/ vig moderation if you so desire.

I was told, point blank, that reporting posts actually meant that the reporting person was at fault. Also, that the rules were not rules, but merely guidelines. This opinion was shared by the mod staff and supported by Dash. *shrug*. There are no rules. The degradation of our discourse over the last few days seems to support it. People are tossing around personal attacks, criticizing posters and not posts, indirectly attacking people via their associations, and generally ignoring the rules at the top of the board. If the moderators are fine with the tone around here, then why bother following those rules at all?

This post was reported for a violation of the forum rules dealing with public undermining of the forum rules.

It is that. You have been warned about it previously informally. You are now formally warned again for a repeat of the same behavior.

I'll take this opportunity to point out that was one of the things removed during the board rules update. The mod staff determined it was too prone to subjectivity, and elements of the idea behind it were rolled into flaming.

Since I've seen no board rule that prohibits insulting vaguely-defined political groups, I don't really see how that pertains.

Why don't you stop trying to use the board rules as a weapon and then complaining we have none when it doesn't work, and address some points instead? I'd be willing to be if we charted reported posts compared to days on which you've posted we'd see a pretty strong correlation.

I think it was the last thread that got locked, One of the mods broke down the number of reported posts when Monty was around vs not around.

What defines a personal attack to you and what defines it to the rest of the world are completely different things.

How is it? He's not attacking your intelligence. In fact, the implication is that you are intelligent enough to understand what was said but are being purposefully ignorant toward some ends.
