I nearly fell out of my chair laughing, reading this

Dear Red State guy. The left did not destroy Rush's big dream. Rush's lazy, racist, hateful, intolerant and obscene fat mouth did. He dug his own grave. It's not nearly enough recompense for the pain he's caused with his bigotry and hate mongering over the years.

You know what? You make it very difficult for me to read you, or take anything you write even remotely seriously. Everything you post is cluttered with loaded or hateful language.

I see that some folks believe Rush may have a libel case. That'd be funny, if certain leftists lost and lined Rush's bank acct. I'd consider falling out of my chair laughing.

Compared to the people that are disrespectful to Obama with every breath? Really? Because, man, there is some serious hate directed a politicians on the board, and I don't see you having a problem with that language. Why the double standard?

Maybe someone could explain that if it were even remotely clear what you're talking about. All I see is an OP ranting about Limbaugh.

Rush Limbaugh was part of a group trying to buy the St. Louis Rams. The deal had to be approved by 3/4 of the NFL's 32 teams, and Limbaugh's remarks of the past were deemed too divisive, racist, etc. to garner the support needed to get that kind of widespread approval, so the purchasing group dropped Limbaugh, deeming him "a complication."

Except none of the supposed racist quotes could be sorced to him by any media agent.

"Put the bone back in your nose" is one of my favorites, shouted at a black, female caller on his radio show. Actually, his racism is very well documented, has been posted to this board, and can be found with a simple internet search. Rush Limbaugh is a racist, without a doubt.

Let's take a look at that please. You're definition of who or what is racists is, well...not so good.

Aside from the fact that Limbaugh is not a racist in any discernable way, shape, or form, I don't see why it's an issue.

As for the link, I didn't see it at first; sometimes they blend in on this color scheme.

Ok, I think this argument will go no where. If you honestly believe, DE, that Rush Limbaugh is in no way a racist, we just can't see eye to eye.

Seriously, guys. You need to step back from being on the conservative side and really take a long hard look at the mouth pieces that drive the movement, and what they say and promote.

We need to "step back" and just agree with you. Right.

Translation. Agree with me because I say I'm right.

Snopes has a list of offensive quotes (not a complete list, I'm sure...) attributed to Limbaugh. Quotes on the list that Snopes confirms as documented are:

Quote:
"Right. So you go into Darfur and you go into South Africa, you get rid of the white government there. You put sanctions on them. You stand behind Nelson Mandela — who was bankrolled by communists for a time, had the support of certain communist leaders. You go to Ethiopia. You do the same thing."

Quote:
"Look, let me put it to you this way: the NFL all too often looks like a game between the Bloods and the Crips without any weapons. There, I said it."

Quote:
"Have you ever noticed how all composite pictures of wanted criminals resemble Jesse Jackson?"

Quote:
"Take that bone out of your nose and call me back."

Quote:
"I think the media has been very desirous that a black quarterback do well. They're interested in black coaches and black quarterbacks doing well. I think there's a little hope invested in McNabb and he got a lot of credit for the performance of his team that he really didn't deserve."

I'm presenting these simply as information. Take their meanings, contexts, or Snopes' citations however you like.

The issue isn't the veracity of Limbaugh's racism, however.

My Google Fu is lacking, could you please link me to these quotes you've found? I think the libel case is based on Al Sharptons involvement in the situation, and the lengths Sharpton is going to attack Limbaugh.

But yeah, could you please link those quotes? Are they attributed to a date and time of when he said it? I'd like to go back through Limbaughs shows and find them but would need it narrowed down a bit.

I agree with the columnist I read that pointed out that Rush's McNabb comment was not racist, but political. But hey, if you're searching for racists, why let intent get in the way?

*edit* Wrong guy, I think. :)

The bone in the nose one is the only one that I think is over the line. The last one, God that was a tempest in a teapot. Rush was right when he said that. It wasn't a slam on McNabb(who at the time was playing terrible, Rush couldn't say that now), it was slam on the media and he was right.

Ok, let me preface by saying I don't know if Limbaugh is "racist" or not. In fact, I think every single one of you is wrong in saying anyone isn't racist because that simply isn't true. And I do not know what Limbaugh's stance on other policies or anything is because I don't watch his radio shows or tv shows.

Anyway, if he is indeed "racist" does that invalidate any of the other critcisms he makes?

I don't really buy the "everyone is racist" thing because it tells us nothing useful. Ok, fine. Everyone's a racist. Now, either the term is useless because it's simply stating the obvious, or else we start using it to refer to people who are racist in a significant fashion.

I'm looking at the Snopes thing that Farsky linked and I'm still trying to find the racism, since I'm reviewing those quotes in the context they were said.

Only one of those quotes was issued by him (thats the crips and bloods) and when taken in context its not offensive - he was referring to the overly celebratory endzone dances.

"Right. So you go into Darfur and you go into South Africa, you get rid of the white government there. You put sanctions on them. You stand behind Nelson Mandela — who was bankrolled by communists for a time, had the support of certain communist leaders. You go to Ethiopia. You do the same thing."
I don't see how this is offensive except to the people sponsoring massive famine and extortion. Who should rightfully be offended by their action.

Also not everyone believes that one race is superior to the others.

I also would argue the delineation between "significant" racism and "insignificant" is also useless. All it does is societally sanction things like indentity reduction to race, which I can't see as being any different than what we'd call "significant" racism.

First of all, I think it's rather hypocritical for a group of people which includes Al Davis to exclude anyone from joining their club due to character limitations.

Second of all, "Oh noes, a bunch of rich people have ostracized some other rich person!"

Third, all of the major sports are cartels anyway. About the best you can hope for is that, if you're a fan, the team owner is committed to giving you a competitive on-field product.
