.......And after that question, the designers had him tracked down and treated like a typical "red shirt" guy =P

... so ... incredibly stereotypically accurate, even the speech pattern, body language and apparent lack of eye contact.

This is why we have stereotypes, 'cause they're TRUE. I bet you a dollar he lives in his mom's basement.

Yup. Folks like him are really the reason I don't do Cons for the most part. There really isn't enough geek-off in the world to keep the hardcore ones with no social/hygene skills at bay.

I totally remember that guy from last year. He asked a similar question on a different matter, even.

To be fair, his hygiene appeared fine. Also, different cons will attract different audiences.

Hi, question for Ms. Bellamy. In episode 2F09, when Itchy plays Scratchy's skeleton like a xylophone, he strikes that same rib twice in succession yet he produces two clearly different tones. I mean, what are we, to believe that this is some sort of a, a magic xylophone or something? Boy, I really hope somebody got fired for that blunder.

His question wasn't even THAT geeky.. I mean it was, but it's sort of a glaring hole:

"Hey, it says in this book that this dude is supposed to be here, but in the game not only is he not there, he's not anywhere!"

I think it's kinda sad that the devs themselves aren't keeping track of the lore as well as the hardcore fans. They need someone like that on their team.

I've got folks that anal on the "team" I work for. I'd ... rather not.

At some point you just gotta shoot the engineers and send the damn thing to production.

I dunno, Taskiss. While in many areas, I'd certainly be in agreement (it's generally more cost effective to get something "close" instead of "perfect" before you start selling it), when it comes to story ... I think continuity bears deserves a greater level of scrutiny than that. Imagine Tolkien writing a 4th Lord of the Rings novel, and in this 4th book, Faramir was king and not Aragorn. I think it safe to say that this breakdown in continuity would not go unnoticed, and that the readers would unanimously agree that he should have followed his own storyline better than that.

I guess MMORPG's may be one of those areas where the line between literature and technology are blurred. I was speaking strictly from my experience in being a programmer on a huge project.

I once watched a Colonel pound on a keyboard during a product demo and hit return, then get all bent about not being able to recover the mission plan from the previous point. This was back in ... well, a long time ago when development was done using actual hardware VT100's connected to VAX 11/780's.

I was all like "that requirement wasn't in the design spec"! to my boss afterward, but it didn't matter, they programmed in a ton of "do you really REALLY want to continue" crap prompts in after that just to please the jerk...like it's not hard enough to fire off a nuclear weapon as it is, you want to ask permission after every carriage return?

OK, so that may not be the best example, but you know what I mean. :)

The vast majority of gamers don't care half as much about story as they claim to. We're also not talking about whether Faramir or Aragorn ended up as the king of Gondor. More like who was Haldir?

Oh, I bet he's very good at his job. The problem is Lucas himself feels no need to consult or adhere to the continuity database, and so does dumbass things like kill off Padme during childbirth, when in some other little known movie like RotJ, Leia remembers living with her mother as a toddler.
