Hardly call it a pitcher's battle as so many were thinking it would be. Giants win the first 11-7.

Go Giants!!!

Holy cow. At someone's request, I just went to YouTube and searched for "Brian Wilson Jim Rome", for an interview the Giants closer did. I knew nothing about the guy other than his beard, and that he's a good pitcher. Apparently he's amusing as hell too. Go check it out if you haven't.

Giants 9 - Rangers 0

Series Giants 2-0

Now we go to Texas, and see if the Rangers can make it back to San Francisco. Really, I expected better from them, they're a much better team than they seemed tonight.

Still,

Go Giants!!!

20 runs in 2 games. That's more than they scored over the entire 6 game NLCS!

Pretty unexpected so far.

First game was crazy, second game pretty crazy in a different way. Starting to get into record territory I should think, 20 runs scored in 2 games in the World Series... I wonder what the record is in an X game series (however long it ends up being, assuming the Giants win in the end).

Congratulations to the Giants and all their fans!!!

Woohoo, am I glad I'm not in San Francisco right now. It is going to be more noise and insanity than I could stand.

Congrats, Giants fans. Have to say, that was some good baseball.

Now I'm gonna go crawl back in my hole until February. (Unless the Packers go to the Super Bowl, perhaps.)

I'm very happy for the Giants. I love their story this year, the team make up and everything. They've always seemed to be a pretty damn organization in my eyes, even if I am a Yankee's fan.

Outside of that aberration of game 1, good pitching really showed itself here. 5 runs in 4 games for Texas after that first? And this from the team that drubbed the Yankees good in the ALCS. While I did expect Lee to win at least one of his games, I can't say this came as too much of a shock, but perhaps the degree to which the good pitching trumped good hitting was surprising. :p

I had picked the Giants for 2009 World Series winners about halfway through 2009... apparently I was just one year late.

I knew the Giants making the postseason was bad news... and that friggin Brooks Conrad!

Grats to all Giants fans, though!

Time now to go hibernate until Spring...

TV ratings for World Series equal record low

Quote:
NEW YORK (AP) - Television ratings for this year's World Series equaled the lowest ever.
The San Francisco Giants' five-game victory over the Texas Rangers averaged an 8.4 rating and 14 share. That matches the record low of the 2008 Phillies-Rays World Series, which also went five games, with the decisive game suspended then completed two days later because of rain.
The average rating was down 28 percent from the 11.7/19 for last year's Yankees-Phillies series.
The Giants' 3-1 win Monday night on Fox earned an 8.8/14.
San Francisco averaged a 35.3/61 for the series, while Dallas had a 30.9/48.
Ratings represent the percentage of all homes with TVs tuned into a program. Shares represent the percentage of all homes with TVs in use at the time.
