To be fair, elders have a bad habit of thinking they're putting younger folks in their place when really they're just forgetting they're talking to another adult.

There's a big difference between being physically an adult and mentally an adult.

You get treated based on your mental ability.

And that goes equally in both directions.

Parental scorn?

That's what kids call it when their elders put them in their place.

Nah, that's how "elders" interpret the phrase paternal scorn when their faculties are on the downward slope and they are desperately trying to prove their opinions are relevant, when the only thing backing them is an extra decade breathing.

Experience doesn't always win, but that's where the smart money gets placed.

Hey Michael:

Your bullshit doesn't really phase me, and since you have decided you just want to instigate **** I'll be sure to keep that in mind for the future.

Once upon a time Micheal was considered a fair and wise poster but in recent years he has moved decidedly into the "grumpy old man" position akin to the grandpa in the corner who yells at passing kids about the price of bread in his day.

An excess of annoying kids will make any old man grumpy.

Dude, you just did an end-around the entire discussion and declared one side to be true and the other side false.

The whole point of a majority of posts in this thread (well, majority of constructive-ish posts in this thread) have revolved around the question of whether rights are inherent or created by communities (or through majority, might, etc), and why.

It's like entering an hour long debate over which cheese is better, cheddar or swiss, and declairing "oh, no - cheddar is better". Um, ok, why?

Well one, because its chedder. Two because you get more cheese per slice (the holes in swiss are attemts at liberal cheese distribution) and three chedder can be used in many dishes while swiss has limited uses.

I mean duh stop being obtuse Monty... err Arathin. ;p
