Ok, realistically, we can't all get together IRL.

But we can talk about the ideal 80s party!

Music, food, activities, clothing....MOVIES!!!

Nothing happened in the 80's that I can distinguish from what happened in the 90's. Those decades kinda flow together in my memory.

Ok

MUST
Michael Jackson
Madonna
Cure
Phil Collins
Bill Joel
Peter Gabriel
Lauper or Boy George
Tears for Fears or Duran Duran

one of the following:
A-Ha, Thompson Twins, Human League, Modern English, Elvis Costello, Eurthymics, Depeche Mode

Soundtracks (at least one song from each):
Rocky, Pretty in Pink, Top Gun, Breakfast Club, Back to the Future, Dirty Dancing, Beverly Hills Cop

You can make it more or less authentic by going to other genres as well such as the inclusion of hair band power ballads or later 80's if you like or move to more New Wave in the early 80's.

Hate to admit it, but when I dressed up to go out, I was a yuppie
yes, that's right.......penny loafers, no socks, straight leg jeans or khakis, pink oxford over pink polo, collar flipped.....

Everyday wear was jeans and tshirts.......much the same as today ;)

Can it really be an 80's party without cocaine and strippers with big hair dancing to generic synth-guitar riffs over heavily reverbed snare drum blasts?

I can't help but picture a Glade 80's party as being very similar to the Tom Hanks movie Bachelor Party.

This thread is sadly lacking in the glam rock of the 80s. Only really saw one solid mention singling it out! Though it's not my favorite music ever... for shame!

If I didn't have to leave my house, I could so rock the rat tail again. Bust out the NES for some Mario Bros, too.
