R.I.P. Dave Niehaus, truly the soundtrack to my summers. Others will take up the mic, but you will never be replaced.

This is very sad indeed. I heard about it on my way home from work last night, and am still kind of stunned.

He's been the radio voice of the Mariners since their inception in 1977. He was the only original employee left from the inaugural season.

Listening to them is just not going to be the same.

I think I'm most saddened by the fact that he never got to see them win a championship.

If someone asked who my favorite all-time Mariner is, it would be easy to so say 'Ken Griffey Jr.', or 'Randy Johnson', or 'Ichiro', but I think the correct answer to that question is just..."Dave"...

Here are couple of my favorite Dave Niehaus moments.

His call of Matt Tuiasosopo's first home run, after Mike Blowers had 'called it' during the 'pick to click' segment of the pre-game show. I heard this live and I still remember the moment and the feeling like it was yesterday.

"The Double"- 1995 ALDS. Memorable for a lot of reasons
