Interesting...there's no physical Green Lantern suit.

Haha, our department head is doing the 'science adviser' thing for that movie....

One of his 1st year graduate students is a pretty good friend of mine, and his whole group has spent the last month or so building 'scientific looking laser stuff' for the movie.

We're all going to take pictures with it, and then go and cheer when the movie comes out :-D

They've been blocking off various parts of the city around where I live to do the filming.

Huh, yeah, IMDB has Mark Strong as Sinestro, too.

Hope this is as good as the Cartoon Network movie that was on a few months ago. I actually really enjoyed that (and knew next to nothing about the Green Lantern before that, tbh).

Oh, and thanks for this - lead me to Mark Strong, which lead me to find that a "John Carter of Mars" movie is in the works. Given that nothing written by Edgar Rice Burroughs has ever translated well into film (beyond Tarzan, and, even then ... ), I don't know how much hope I should hold out.

Isn't it funny how certain actors seem to get into the right roles and then just take off and you see them in everything? Mark Strong...Rock N Rolla, Sherlock Holmes, Kick ***, Robin Hood now Sinestro. Guy has a huge list of movies but it seems that I'm just now seeing this guy all over the place.

In first glance at that poster, I thought it was Ben Stiller behind the mask.

Forget the mask, aside from being a bit narrow where it dips towards the bridge of his nose, it looks normal and pretty good for a Lantern mask. What's with the weird texture of the suit? It looks like the muscle layer on one of those transparency anatomy composites.

And did they seriously dye/tint his hair green in costume? Cause that's just silly.

I'm more excited for "The Green Hornet," to be honest with ya.

The green tint in his hair is supposed to be from the green light the ring is emitting. The same green tint also hits portions of the name of the magazine, so I can't tell if the PR/Marketing people for the film did it and the magazine art department picked it up for their logo, the magazine did it on their own to better incorporate the image into the cover art.

Okay, that's what I was hoping, but it looked a bit too uniform to be sure.

The mask is the best thing about it. That looks worse than the Superman Returns costume.

That's what my vote is as well, the cover just looks like an awful photoshop.

My reservations about the costume are alleviating somewhat. It looks far less weird with full-body shots at wider angle distances.

Ryan Reynolds looks to remain a decent enough casting, and my inner geek is happy to see they're not going to skip Oa and the more Corps-y aspects in favor of making it a Sinestro/Hal buddy training movie or something.

Sorry, what? You're accepting Ryan Reynolds as Green Lantern? REALLY? WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU, KAFFISLACKER! (That's a rhetorical question ...)

Right Comic Universe, WRONG F'IN CHARACTER!

Also, he's not playing Hal Jordan ...

Yeah, he'd be a better Guy for a Lantern. But I'll take what I can get; Hal's still a big of a rogue at heart. That's what I mean about "decent enough." I wouldn't have chosen it, but at least Nic Cage isn't "expressing interest" like he always used to pre-Ghost Rider...

Hence "for a Lantern." If you have to cast Ryan Reynolds as a Lantern, he ought to be playing Guy Gardner.

Trailer looked pretty good to me. I wouldn't have cast Ryan Reynolds, but I want to go see it now.

Latest (presumably last) trailer.

I'm sure we'll go see it, but it doesn't look very good to me.

I'll go see it just because one of the research groups in our department designed all the laser apparatuses for the film... And we want to go laugh at the ones that we recycled and are actually using in the lab now.

I was never much of a G.Lantern fan. How accurate to cannon does this appear?
