Lisa has this person who is in her life. She calls her "ma" but it is not her mother, not her mother in law... it is just some miserable old bat who I would like to see clubbed like a baby seal. She is not even related.

This woman is a miserable excuse for a person. She has tried convincing my daughter that my daughter was possessed because we are such evil people... she has tried to tell my daughter that her taste for the macabre is all because of Satan and is now harping on my daughter to repent her wickedness...

Every time I reach a point in my life where I feel that I am passing beyond the crisis of faith that has occurred for most of my adult life this bint shows up and makes me think that SHE is single handedly the reason I am proud of not claiming Christianity as my religion.

Now she has taken to trying to confront my daughter on Facebook... I so wish I could beat this woman's husband as a lesson to her to keep her **** mouth shut and stop talking to my daughter like that.

This woman's own children fled the state to get away from her... but somehow it all falls on my family to be nice to this twat.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!

This woman is the type of woman who would claim righteousness, and then crucify Jesus because she understood his message better than he did...

It saddens me hearing stories of people like this...they are the reason why I stayed away from church/God so long as well.
I finally reached a point in my life where my desire for God was greater than my desire to "club those over-zealous 'christians' over the head like baby seals"....don't let this lady turn you away from God.

Now... I must clarify... this woman could not keep me from my religious beliefs. But she is the type who gives Christians a bad name.

Spoilered the next part due to the person it references:
Spoiler:
One of our previous members had very strong religious convictions, and at times he took a lot for **** for it (even from me). But not once did he EVER seem like the type to tell a 14 year old kid that she was going to hell for being a typical teenager.

This woman is an M-80 away from being a real zealot... She at one time tried telling me that Taoism was the work of Satan.

But based on the way she treats her religion... I really do need to question if her God and mine are really the same one.

Maybe I should just take the leap and pledge my devotion to the Great Old Ones...

There's always gonna be someone who uses their religion as a platform for their insanity, unfortunately.

Can you cut her out of your life?

Tell her you found Jesus in Satan. It might make her head explode.

That would prompt a response of "I knew it"... and then we would never hear the end of it.

Kate,

I thought she was out of my life... and Lisa brought her back around because her own family did not even call her to wish her a Happy Thanksgiving. So Lisa invited them over for dinner.

Taskiss,

Supposedly I am one of them... for no other reason than I put stock in my astrological sign.

Report any social networking infractions to the proper admin authority. With everything going on with cyberbullying they're under pressure to police their own. Other wise she's Lisa's friend to deal with. Just limit your exposure to the basic polite necessities for her sake.

Have your daughter remove her as a friend. Change the settings to ignore her.

Is this another example of two christians who cannot agree on what it means to be a christian, so you are at odds with each other?

No, it's another example of your terribad reading comprehension skills.

It seems ambiguous to me, given the totality of his posts in this thread. On one hand in the OP, he states that he does not claim christianity. In his next post, he references whether his god and her god is the same one. So based on that it's up in the air, and so I asked.

Rynar, thank you for reminding me why I consider asking questions on this site to be as painful as throwing rocks at a wasp's nest. Past experience tells me I'm gonna get swarmed, whatever question I ask.

Sorry to hear that DS.

2 things:

1) I don't approve of clubbing baby seals and

2) Like any other group, Christians have their assholes and morons. I'm sure you wouldn't say that black criminals give blacks a bad name, so don't let people like this woman give Christians a bad name in your eyes.

There's someone here who's already doing precisely that.

You haven't got very much past experience to go on. Maybe you should take to heart what Stathol said in your last go-round here about the questions you're asking. They all seem to focus on this idea you've got in your head that there's some sort of problem if not all Christians agree with each other. I haven't seen any explaination of why you think that's a problem.

In fact, the entire thing seems to be you not being able to let go of your outrage at people's opinions in the fireman thread, your inability to address counterpoints about the larger issues at stake except by repeating your outrage, and your resentment at not being able to bludgeon some of us into agreeing with you by posting that one article by some guy lecturing on how Christians supposedly should have dealt with the situation.

So, the very limited past experience we have with you tells me (and I'm fairly safe in guessing not to be the only one) that:

1) You're a reasonably intelligenct guy
2) You have the potential to post quite well

however

3) You can't let that one thread go and have to keep obliquely restarting that same debate
4) You're used to the sort of internet forum where people have to dance around Miss Manners rules to avoid getting moderated for flaming or trolling requiring the sort of passive-aggressive "questions" you're asking here
5) You haven't figured out yet that this isn't one of those forums, or if it is you haven't yet adapted and

therefore

6) You're asking questions that suck *** and are really just you still resenting people's viewpoints from the fireman thread.

So, past eperience is telling you you'll get swarmed because you're establishing a past history of acting like an *** by not letting an issue go, and not doing a good job of making any points in the process.

I think it is too late for those concerns, in my opinion the well has already become too poisonous. My take on what's happened is that there are some christians on this board for whom christianity is above criticism, so any poster who asks questions that could be deemed as critical are to be immediately shouted down. So I'll continue reading, because I want to learn, but posting only when I feel like punishing myself for something. I learn more here when I don't ask questions than when I do.

Farther, there was no drama in this thread until you showed up trying to start a fight.
Stop that.

I see. Asking a question = trying to start a fight. Did it occur to anyone other than Micheal that maybe I wanted a legitimate answer to the question? He answered the question, but everyone else had to assume stuff and start swarming. If the extra commentary (from Rynar for starters) had been held in check, there would have been no drama. Micheal answered my question.

*sigh* Whatever.

Well, if you were genuinely asking a question with no ulterior motives, then my apologies, Farther. I'm sorry.
It's very difficult to tell tone sometimes just with written words and we get to know people's tone by their posting history...I haven't seen a whole lot of friendly banter, hey-hows-it-going kind of stuff from you, just arguing in hellfire.
I'm so sorry if I've misjudged you. Maybe spend some more time hanging out in the general thread talking about farts and panties before just jumping into hellfire? :)

Apology accepted, and thank you. It's true that I don't spend much time here. I come by, read threads and leave, usually without logging in. There are a couple of interests of mine that come up here, so I come back sometimes. My questions here to some degree mirror questions I ask friends I have that are christian. They try to explain, but I find the answers inadequate. I admit I was hoping someone here was going to make sense of it for me, but that is unlikely. Either the answers I get are the same as I get from my friends, or it gets lost in the general hostility I seem to generate.

It doesn't matter much. Maybe some things are just unanswerable. I'll keep reading and learning when I can, and keep my mouth shut.

Farther, if you continue going to every thread and derailing it with your "hurr Christians are hypocritical and suck" troll posts, I will ban you. And no, I do not believe your questions and posts are sincere.

DS, there are some people who are poisonous. This "Lady" appears to be one of them. She needs to be removed from your life. She must be unfriended and ignored on Facebook and any other way she can contact you or your daughter.

The other thing that must happen is that you need to have a discussion with the person who dragged the "Lady" back into your life, and tell her that it must stop. I know from personal experience that this discussion must happen and this is something you can not compromise on. I allowed my ex to do this and my version of the "Lady" caused damage in my life that I am still fixing. She is alone because she hurt everyone around her. She is the only person who can fix this. NOT you and your family.

There will always be people who play on other's kindness, at least you should be happy knowing that regardless of what she says in this life, your (or her) god will eventually judge her based on her actions and the hurt she caused.

People give some good advice here, but firstly you'll need to ensure your other half knows the damage this 'lady' is causing to you mentally. (this is to avoid sleeping on the couch which is never fun) Once you guys agree, then you can decide on a course of action. But since this 'lady' is more her charge than yours, it's best to let her take the initiative.

In the mean time, talk to your daughter and let her know that evil walks amongst us masquerading as the helpful good. Part of growing up is the ability to recognise evil for what it really is.

Stay strong, as much as violence might be fun, it's never a good solution.
