Thor, Hellion, Banshee is incredibly effective, especially when you're at a very high gas count late game.

I never did drop by here to say thanks for the games and advice (akak Khross and Dash). I actually watch a lot of replays and know that I'm very, very lacking in skills. But, I have been practicing hard and it has been paying off. It seems (whether true or not) that I am much more prepared for early pushes, but sadly I still get caught off gaurd now and then. I still do not scout, it requires WAY too much APM and everything at the base slips when I do it or the scout goes idle and dies.

I am MUCH better about watching the front door for probe pylon pushes and terran bunker or barracks rushes in the base (yeah, that stuff still happens down on my level). I also see a lot of people pushing to take my natural as their first expand, but since our play session, I've managed to fend off and punish the people who do them.

I still manage to lose to Zealot pushes, even when I wall in. If I'm not walled in I'm done, if I am walled in I can still lose depending on how soon I see the attack coming and how fast I get a couple SCVs to the front door. Unfortunately I don't see this often, but when it happens I'm always feeling super pressure to survive.

I still don't feel like I'm at a point where I can push our early and harrass my oponents without feeling like I'm leaving myself vulnerable.

As far as builds go, my favorite is to push fast for a banshee (immediately followed by or even wait for a second) with cloaking and go for the win. A lot of people quit out fast with cloaked banshees killing their harvesting units.

Anyway folks, hope to see you all around. I'm still muddling through, and moving slowly up in the top 100 of my Bronze league. =)

Was fun playing with you Gorse. Not sure if you've already seen it but I just told my brother the same thing, check out this video if you havent already:

I've been slacking on SC2 lately. I need to get some time to play soon. Hopefully my schedule will ease up soon.

Game 3 of Grand Finals Mana vs Naama
Intense game. Actually the rest of the series is good, going all the way to game 5. No spoiler on who wins it all. o_o

A very good series and well played by both of them. I was happy to see some creative Protoss play in Dreamhack overall.

Spoiler:
PvT really feels like an uphill battle for me, much moreso than the other match ups. Protoss can just so easily be spanked by Terran T1 units it's crazy. We need to be prepared for simple MMM, Banshee harass, drops, helions... and yet still be flexible enough to deal with a later push like heavy mech, all while trying to figure out how to breech terran defenses like bunkers and seige tanks.

On the Protoss side, it comes down to: Get Colossi. Every terran knows you're doing this, even blindly, so they'll have Vikings. GL with that. Of course you could go High Templar, but you had to get a robo bay to defend the possibility of cloaked banshee so it's not the optimal tech path... still, if you do, Ghost emps are a very viable counter. All this is assuming you survived this long.

In fact I think it's this series where Apollo says "Oh he needs to get the High Templars out in time to survive this!" and it's just a MMM push. So Toss needed T3 tech, with storm researched and amulet, to defend a marine marauder medivac push at his choke. Brutal!

I dont think anything needs to be nerfed or buffed necessarily, I'm honestly not good enough to make that assertion. I'm just saying it's usually an uphill battle to face an equally skilled Terran opponent. The margin of error is really small.

I was kinda rooting for the BYOC guy. Complete no-name goes to LAN event, comes out playing amongst some of the e-sports best.

They added a new ship to it (based on the void ray) in the latest release, which really changes the dynamic of the game. By itself, it's actually a bit underpowered and fragile, but it's so very, very mobile and dangerous, when played well it completely changes the strategies the other ships need to use.

I am becoming very good at Star Battle, and have adopted the Void Ray as my new ship of choice. I have to learn to take fewer risks though. I'm dying too much, but have 43 confirmed enemy player kills in the last 28 games. :)

And I finally did it. Finished every campaign mission on brutal difficulty so I could have Sarah Kerrigan as my portrait. :)

Don't you mean the recolored Nova portrait? Go look. I'll wait a second. Did you go look? Exact same portrait with different colors.

Looks the same as kerrigan in the cutscene. Kerrigan was first. I suggest Nova is the recolored one.

It's pretty sad, though. 1690 achievement points, and only 50 of them are outside of the campaign.

Doesn't look a thing like her in the cut scene. It just looks like a recolored Nova portrait.

I don't know. My immediate assumption, had I never seen Starcraft, would be that my avatar and the picture below are the same person. Close enough, anyway.

The first thing I thought when I saw Taly's avatar was, "Hey, isn't that a shopped red-headed Nova?" It's the lips and the eyes that are giveaways for me. Then, I watched the short comm message from Kerrigan during the last mission and figured, well Blizz put it in there, so I guess it's really Sarah.

Speaking of Kerrigan -- so I wonder what happened:
Spoiler:
to her and Jim after she was disinfected of her ZTD, and he carried her off into the bloody, dismembered sunset? It's not like people would say "Oh hey welcome back to society, Sarah, destroyer of countless lives and homes. Glad to see the Protoss Valtrex worked!" And Jim was not exactly Mr. Low-Profile himself.

Yeah I read about that, but based on what they are saying, the proposed plot completely contradicts the final events of the Human campaign.

Unless it's supposed to be a what if Raynor did not succeed scenario.

EDIT: Okay, did some reading on various forums and one proposed theory that I can kinda see/accept is that:
Spoiler:
The Protoss device did not (and perhaps was not meant to) remove the Zerg nature from Kerrigan, rather to allow her to control it rather than being controlled. Still in command of the Zerg forces, she is now able to make moral choices which (I am guessing) has her joining the Zerg with the Protoss and Humans to combat the greater evil together. In other words, Kerrigan is still master over the Swarm, but is now also master over herself and her powers, allowing her to focus on what must be done for the greater good.

Personally, I would have rather had Kerrigan and Raynor be able to have their happy ending that both of them deserved as Humans, but if the above is true, then I guess I can deal, as it is the next best thing. And, after the threat has been dealt with, maybe they'll still get their happy ending after all . . .

We'll see how it unfolds I guess in 2065, when the final installment is released.

They have a potentially great love story here -- hope they don't drop the ball.

blizzard subscribes to the joss whedon school of "nobody can live happily ever after" ending.

Well, there are different interpretations of happy endings, of course. Cookie cutter ride off into the sunset in each other's arms is kinda tired at this point.

I just don't want yet another, "My true love, alas we cannot be together because you are the Queen of a hive-mind alien race, and I am an intergalactic renegade of love wanted dead in 100 systems" scenario.

This game replaced any and all other competitors for "favorite Blizzard character" with Matt Horner. What a great character.

Matt might not be nearly as interesting without guys like Jim...and even Tychus and Tosh...around him, but yes, he and Raynor sure do play off each other well. Egon and Swann, on the other hand, I coul do without.
