Really? Funny ... I don't remember them trying to destroy all religion...oh yeah, because they didn't! The Russian Orthodox Church continued to operate, without oppression, through the Soviet Reign. Oh, you couldn't be a member of the church and a member of the Communist Party, but being a member of the Church was not a capital offense in the Soviet Union.



I was actually thinking of Mao and Mao inspired North Korea although the targeted destruction of almost every religion moves towards that goal as well.

Read tortured for Christ by Richard Wyrmbrund if you want to find out how free religion really was under soviet block rule. It wasn't as free as advertised.

Though I have no idea what that has to do with the OP.

Nobody said it religion was free under soviet rule. I said there was no mass rounding up of christians and eliminating them, the churches were not closed down, etc. Surprise! The Soviet Union was tyranical! There was no organized atheist attrocity against believers, however.

According to the author, who went though it, yes there was. It wasn't as public and open as what happened under German rule, and churches were allowed to stay opened if they behaved. However a great many people were disappeared by the soviets for their faith.
