I am not entirely sure yet, but that may be the most realistic CGI game cutscene I've ever seen.

It looks like they superimposed real people on the CG! That's amazing.

Well, I guess Arkham was a huge surprise after so many awful, awful batman games, maybe they can strike lightning twice in a row!

Oddly enough, too much realism in my comic franchises is a bit of a turn-off. Live action actors in the movies is a necessary evil. If I had it my way, they'd post-process some cel shading in or something. It's one of the reasons I really liked the Spider-Man and Iron Man movies; once costumed up, there was a very clean feel to the CG/costume mix that almost felt like it was hand colored, so well did they reflect the clean lines and generally smooth coloration of their paper progenitors.

I really don't feel the need to see Batman's stubble and skin pores. It kind of ruins the comic look.

Mark Hamill has stated this (Arkham City) is the very last time he will voice the Joker.

Which sucks...he's the only one who's ever really been able to voice the modern age Joker well (that's including Ledger)...

Whoever they got to voice the joker for the Red Hood movie DC just did was just terrible...

I wonder if this is where the rumor got started about the next Nolan Bat flick using Strange.

Isn't this also going to be Kevin Conroy's last gig as Batman? I thought I heard something along those lines.
Looks like a must buy!

This makes me very sad. As far as I am concerned, Hamill is the Joker.

Not Conroy's last appearance as Batman, thankfully (heck, he still at least has the Justice League: Doom DTV coming out next year). But yeah, it appears Hamill has said he's retiring the Joker. :(

Also, the game drops on Tuesday!

Except for us PC users. We don't get the game until sometime in November, for some stupid reason. Probably has something to do with DRM or copy-protection, I'm sure.

And we still don't have an official release date for the PC version. One site says November 8th, Gamestop and Amazon say November 15th, and yet another site is saying it will be November 30th. I hope this doesn't turn into another Fable 3. They delayed the PC version release at the last minute, and it ended up being released several months later than originally planned.

The cinematics were done by Blur Studios, who also handled cinematic duties for X-Men Legends II and Marvel: Ultimate Alliance.

Blur does really good cinematic work; and I think their cinematic work fits well with M:UA and X:ML. That said, I'm with Kaffis when it comes to Batman's stylistic representation in video games. And, this will probably mortify or baffle a few of you ...

But I have not played Arkham Asylum, and I sincerely doubt I will get Arkham City.

By the by, Blur's Bats is too big -- way too bulky.

Honestly I expected Arkham Asylum to suck cock...badly. It was good though. Very good. Like, I wanted it to move in with me good.

The biggest compliment I can give Arkham Asylum is that it is not a fighting/stealth game with a Batman skin slapped onto it. It is a Batman game.

I pre-ordered on Amazon with release date delivery, which has worked flawlessly a dozen+ times before. Sadly, today is the end of my luck with Amazon.com deliveries on release dates.

"Delay in delivery due to external factors - October 18, 2011 6:45:00 PM"

Boo I say, boo! 12 hours on a truck driving around my town, and it couldn't find its way to my doorstep.

Yeah, UPS has pissed me off royally today, for the same reason (though not about the game, but still Batman-related).

When we get home from dinner, UPS is getting a second phone call from me today. This one won't be nice and sweet like the last time I called.

Good luck with that. As a man who is married to a woman who works at a UPS center and has worked in every phone department there (billing, tracking, universal, preferred customer, lost packages, etc. etc.), I can assure you that you're ranting won't get you anywhere. UPS may.... *MAY* refund the shipper if they call and complain. But they won't refund the receiver, which is you. UPS only will refund the person who paid them. You paid the shipper, and the shipper paid UPS.

The people on the phones really don't have any control, nor are they deserving of your ire. It's the warehouses you need to be upset at. And even then, if it's a weather delay, then it's something else entirely you need to be upset at. More likely: The shipper didn't send your package out on time. In any case, call and complain to the shipper if you're looking for any kind of refund.

Being a husband whose husbandly duties require letting your wife vent at you about her work, I am here to pass on some of that.

Like I said, good luck to you.

Nope, UPS **** up. Which, while annoying, is understandable (though their **** are becoming more and more and more and more common...). What I don't like is being lied to about it.

And no, I don't scream and rant and rave at phone jockeys (or anyone, actually; I don't think I've ever done that, period). They're not the ones who screwed anything up with my delivery.

I've had pretty good luck with the various delivery services, and I use them a lot (as a consumer), but recently, it seems that there has been an increase in delivery related faux paux...

The most recent example is a package I ordered from a luthier supply place that got delivered (by UPS) to the rental office of an apartment complex several blocks from my house because apparently the driver was 'new to the area'. Sorry, that is not an excuse.

I ended up having to drive down there and personally interview the people in the rental office, and while one person had said they signed for the package, that it was left in the 'tenant pickup area' and was no longer there. They could not say what happened to it.

I ended up contacting the supplier and they shipped a new package. Presumably they dealt with UPS on their own. Thankfully the supply house has very good customer service, and I ended up getting my package without too much hassle.

This kind of thing seems like it's becoming more and more common with both FedEx and UPS.

I had two packages arriving from Amazon yesterday, both recorded as being on the truck for delivery via the tracking update that morning. The UPS guy shows up at the ass-end of the day, throws my package at me and runs off. He arrived, and handed me a single package. It didn't feel like both items were in there, so I opened it up and yelled to him, saying that I was supposed to be receiving two packages today.

He said "Yeah, but I looked for it back here and I didn't see it. I guess it's on another truck." Then he left.

I called UPS, asking for the status of my delivery, to make sure there weren't any problems (I had a similar issue a couple of weeks ago). I was told that there were no problems, it was on the truck for delivery, yadda yadda yadda. Deliveries are made between 9a-7p. It was around 5:30pm when the driver arrived and left.

I grabbed a shower (Phe and I were going out to dinner for her birthday), and when I got out of the shower, I had a notice on my phone from my tracking program about the missing package: "The apartment number is missing or is incorrect. UPS is attempting to obtain this information."

I immediately called UPS to see what the problem was, and they reiterated that 'the apartment number was missing and the address was incomplete.' I confirmed my address for them. They had the correct address. There isn't an apartment number; these are townhouses, and they're clearly labeled with their numbers.

I was told that "Oh, well, they'll just reattempt delivery tomorrow." I said "I was really counting on that package being delivered tonight. I paid for two-day shipping, it was supposed to arrive tonight, and there was no mistake on my end. My address is correct."

The UPS lady went quiet for a moment, then put me on hold. When she came back, she said that someone would call me back within an hour 'to discuss delivery options.' I said OK, gave her my phone number, confirmed that the number was correct, and said I would be awaiting the call.

My phone, of course, never rang.

I waited until we returned home from dinner (9:30p-10p) and sure enough, no package. I called UPS back. I was told that 'they had all my information and would attempt redelivery tomorrow.' I said "I paid for two-day delivery, which I didn't receive, through no fault of my own or any information I or the shipper provided. I was told someone would call me back within an hour and I never got a phone call. I now I would like to speak with someone to complain about this, because I'm very unhappy with the way this was handled." I was brushed off and wasn't able to get anywhere.

My belief is that:
A) the UPS driver did a half-assed glance through the packages when he arrived at my door, and saw one quickly.
B) He delivered the one he found quickly, and didn't expect me to know or care about delivery of the other.
C) When I questioned him on it, he logged it in the system as the address being 'incorrect or missing' in order to give an excuse for not delivering it properly.
D) He didn't want to turn around and attempt redelivery.

Maybe I'm wrong. I don't think so, though.
