Well yah, I should have been more specific. Why does it give only junk except for the hat and the pet? Obviously those things are one-time only rewards. At least before you had the chance to make some coin from it.

I dunno, I guess they figured 7g40s, a fishing skill point, and 250 stormwind rep was enough reward for a 15 minute fishing quest. :)

DS: I believe the DK hit cap is still 8%, so... I believe it's 120.some low amount per 1% hit at 85. This would mean the cap is, I believe, 961. It seems daunting at first but keeping an eye out for +hit strength gear as you go through dungeons and/or heroics will have you there pretty fast. There's even a trinket with something like 225 hit on it alone.

And... while there should be (will eventually be?) something neat in the new fishing quest bags, they're not too bad! Between the rare pet and the two rare fishing poles there is a lot to get from them for most people. Unless they're like me and are afraid to get the other rare fishing pole cause I couldn't bring myself to vendor it and I don't have bank room!

Anyone know if there's a new version of Mounted that works with the expansion? Mine seems to have broken after getting the seahorse mount in Vashjr.

Dunno about any addons for it, but I re-designed my mount macro after I got the seahorse:
Code:
/run g,f,s={27,30,50,63,68,73},{9,25,47,64},{1}; t=UnitAura("Player","Sea Legs") and s or IsFlyableArea() and f or g; if(IsMounted() and not IsFlying()) then Dismount() else CallCompanion("MOUNT",t[random(#t)]) end

If mounted and not flying - dismount
If I have the "Sea Legs" buff - sea horse
If in a non-flyable area - random non-flying mount
If in a flyable area - random flying mount

Frost DW softcap is something like 5% due to Nerves of Cold Steel.

Unholy 2h is 8% as per usual, both for Spell and melee thanks to the tier 1 Hit talent.

Magmaw was... harder than expected! We got him down, but I'm not sure whether to consider only doing 1 boss a success for a first night of Cata raids. :p Granted we didn't have our full good team together or anything, but still!

I hope he was a bad one to pick to start. That Wyrmbreaker fellow didn't seem too bad from videos, whereas the precision you have to control adds with on Magmaw (though videos make it look simple if you are lucky enough to have a Hunter in the raid) along with the total raid damage was pretty harsh.

Been doing the underwater zone on my hunter......and I got 20k leagues achievement but am only at 136 quests.......hrm.

If Blizzard was going to give out quests via the drop system, they should have made the damn things 100% drop rate. I took my time and killed a lot of **** along the way, but apparently I missed like 24 quests somewhere. This sucks ***.

How the frak did that happen? I took every quest I found from NPCs. I found some off objects and drops, and yet I am missing this many?

This is what happened to me in DeepHolme and in Hyjal.

I can't speak for Vashj'ir directly, but Deepholm was bugged for a bit on release. I completed every quest there on day... 3 I think, along with a friend of mine. No achievement for completing 125 quests. Next day I log in and apparently have the achievement, though it never popped up for me that I got it or anything. Same thing happened to my friend and to a lot of guildies. There was a note in one of the lists of hotfixes that addressed this somehow.

I want to say Vashj'ir had a similar hotfix too, but I can't confirm that. Deepholm was fairly linear, but I still haven't fully finished Vashj'ir (though I love the zone! But this comes from the only person in EQ history to actually like PoWater so take that for what it's worth. :p)

Hyjal didn't have problems of that buggy sort, for what it's worth. If you didn't pay attention to Ysera whenever she showed up it was possible to miss a quest hub entirely, because she would direct you to the Shrines with normal text dialogue instead of multiple quests. About 1/3 into the zone it goes sort of non-linear for a bit as you have your choice of which Shrines to do next. I know a lot of people in my guild ended up missing one of them.

I may have caught back up to the progression in Hyjal... I found the path to the damn turtle quest giver. And am continuing on

Well, briefly scanning the quests on wowhead, I already saw I missed one quest via item drop.......yet, I know damn well I killed the mobs that drop it many times over. That was my complaint about not making it 100% drop rate. If I kill 12 damn mobs, and don't get a quest drop, how do I know there is even one to begin with? Stupid on Blizzard's part.....

Wonder if I can manage to go back and find them all. Might not even be worth it to the non-achievement-whore in me.....I just hate missing out on extra experience and gold.

Gonna suck donkey parts to ride thru the whole zone looking for needles in haystacks.

I saw someone on a skeleton-dinosaur mount in Orgrimmar today? Where's that come from?

I'd look it up but for some reason, my UI no longer shows buff icons beneath friendlies, so I can't see what mounts people are using. Shows em fine under hostiles though.

Comes from Archeology. Fairly easy to get from what a few people have told me while they rode past me on theirs.

There's no viable 2H DPS spec for DKs atm.

I find that hard to believe Khross. We've had DK's spec'd into Unholy put out very respectable DPS since the 4.0 patch.

Dual Wield Unholy is king of the hill. Dual Wield Frost and 2h Unholy are equal. 2H frost is very subpar. DW Unholy, however, is 5-10% ahead of 2H Unholy and DW Frost.

I got the quest achieve for Vash'jir at 140 quests, despite the fact that the achieve says 150. I know of two quests I didn't do in the zone, one of which is apparently a rare drop of like 1%. This is for horde, btw.

Unless I missed an entire quest hub, there are only about ~145 quests for horde in the zone. The achieve popped on the second to last quest in the zone.

At your level that may be true, but for me... I am trying to get to the place I bolded:
Elitist Jerks wrote:
Best Spec

This is probably the most asked question here or anywhere else, so I may as well address it before going on to any real information. Before I do, it's important to be clear that the below assumes, gear/raid comp wise, that they're equal/equivalent, and that latency isn't a factor (meaning you have less than 400 ms). It suffices to say that said assumption won't apply to everyone (although it should cover the majority of people), and if you experience different results, that's likely due to some individual issue; either your gear greatly favors a specific spec, your latency is through the roof, or you're simply playing a spec improperly.

[Leveling]
Normally, I wouldn't even bother to address this, but with it being the very beginning of an expansion, I may as well toss a quick line or two on the subject. Unfortunately, leveling speed can't be quantified in the same manner as PvE dps, but that doesn't mean all specs are equal in this regard - certain talents/playstyles undoubtedly favor faster leveling; increased mount speed, increased run speed, 1 second GCDs, Butchery, Unholy Command, burst dps, disease independence, and so on. Only one build has all of these perks and more: Frost 2H. That isn't to say you can't level as Unholy or Frost DW - of course you can - merely that, objectively speaking, they're subpar speed-wise. More on the subject can be found here.

[Normal Raids]
Assuming an average iLvl of 359 (normal t11), the order goes something like: 2H Unholy > DW Frost = DW Unholy > 2H Frost, with 2H Unholy being ~1.5% ahead, DW Frost and DW Unholy being within 0.5% of one another, and 2H Frost being ~10% behind the middle. For reference's sake, the approximate dps at this gear level is 19k-20k.

[Hardmode Raids]
Assuming an average iLvl of 372 (hardmode t11), the order goes something like: DW Unholy > DW Frost = 2H Unholy > 2H Frost, with DW Unholy being ~2% ahead, DW Frost and 2H Unholy being within 0.5% of one another, and 2H Frost being ~10% behind the middle. For reference's sake, the approximate dps at this gear level is 21k-23k.

Finally found the ones I missed. Went back to the starting zone and found that I had somehow missed the harpoon guy.....which had a decent sized chain that led to enough to get the achievement. Not sure how I missed him, other than I just didn't see the ! on the map due to poor vision.

After that, I was going to do Hyjal, but for some reason went thru the portal to the Maelstrom. So now I am doing Deepholm.

Deepholm seems okay, but I have to admit after doing Vashj'ir it seem mighty boring.

Is Vashj'ir going to be the highlight zone during my questing? It sure was an amazingly new experience for me, and something I had not had in a long time in this game. Hope they implement some more underwater zones in the future. It gave the game an extra oomph it was missing imho.

I have no plans to do raiding or even 5 mans at this point. Got 4 80's to level up, professions, and some more low level alts I want to raise in level. And I must say, I am not missing the LFG tool grind at all.....

Aside from being visually quite sweet, Deepholm is fairly well standard for Cataclysm. I won't say it's bad, but it tends towards the typical.

Uldum opens up at 83 and if you're a fan of those quick little in-game cinematics, Uldum will be quite a fun experience.

I've only done about half of Twilight Highlands and it has some neat stuff in it too. Not quite as cinematic-heavy as Uldum but interesting. I get the impression that its lore is more relevant than Uldum or Deepholm, too, both of which seems fairly self-contained.

In unrelated news, we failed to kill Halfus this week. :( He's straightforward enough but man he hurts. Perhaps it wasn't the wisest idea to try and leave the whelps caged up... Scorching Breath along with Terrifying Roar sub-50% is just too much. :(

Darksiege:

That doesn't hold up in practice. Dual Wield Unholy starts passing 2H Unholy in Heroic Dungeon gear by a wide margin.
