They're a shock metal band that's been around since 1984. If you ever got into metal, you probably know or have heard of them, other than that, nah. According to wikipedia, they've sold 30 million units worldwide.

If you watched Beavis & Butthead then you'll also have heard of them. A heavy metal band that featured a giant worm that eats half naked chicks and poops them out? Of course B&B were mega-fans.

The best Gwar moment I've ever seen was when they were on either Maury Pauvich or Jerry Springer and they were there to defend their influence on young impressionable teens (of whom they had a few on the show). And the responses they had for the parents were pure gold. The band members are intelligent, reasonable folks and made some extremely solid arguments. I wonder if it's youtube-able.

Edit: I just remembered, it was definitely Jerry Springer. I remember footage of Jerry being eaten by the worm at their concert.

Edit Edit: A youtube search of "gwar jerry springer" does yield up results of their run on the show. I will have to watch it again. My memory says, "I recommend it" though. Warning, probably NSFW with some of those "shock rock" bands.
