She looks very black to me. Apparently there has also been some debate online based on my search-fu.

It's the white devil's conspiracy that's white-washing her. Fight the power!

Apart from the pasty-white skin and red hair, I could see someone thinking she might be black.

Oh wait...

Not every girl with dreadlocks is black. In fact, I would bet that over half of all women with dreadlocks are white.

Her eyes are blue.

She has rosy cheeks.

She fails the brown paper bag test. Her skin is lighter than the mixed girl from the Boondocks cartoon.

Green, I think.

What, are you trying to prove us right? Tyra's skin is much darker than the Sarah Kerrigan picture beside it (despite Sarah Kerrigan being in a dark room while Tyra's in a bright one), and Tyra's not exactly the blackest of black people.

Plus there's the rosy red cheeks, green eyes and red hair.

The skin color and tone are the same on every monitor I see it on. As for the rest of your argument, in a fantasy-world genetically-modified black people can't have green eyes? (The hair color is obviously dyed)

Forget genetically altered. It would only take a couple of centuries (if that) of serious crossbreeding between the present day human people groups to pretty much erase them entirely. So theoretically by the time we reach that level it's very possible the people groups as we know them would have been eliminated. Maybe that's what the artist was going for.

Major assumptions here. Technology is advancing enough that people could genetically tailor their children however they want before there is "serious crossbreeding". If you're going to look at future trends, then you have to look at all trends.

Probably. I was just saying it could happen naturally not that it would.

Poking around in Gimp, I'd say that Hop is fairly well right on this one. The hue is a little different in the brightest areas, but sat and lum are fairly close. If anything, Kerrigan is actually a bit darker. The human eye is bad at judging absolute color values when they're surrounded by very different backgrounds. As in this well-known optical illusion.

Well let's take another look, all other things being "equal" ...

Image

I think the main issue here is the lack of color depth on the original image of Kerrigan. You know, since a .gif can only have 256 colors, sometimes you gotta sacrifice. A Starcraft sprite is not exactly the epitome of high quality. Likely why she ends up looking like some kind of Simpsons character.

Otherwise, looks like the same (white) character to me :P

Don't have my trusty GIMP here at work to do a detailed comparison, but I submit, say, this clearly black pair of women pulled from a Google image search as a benchmark.

Spoilered for suggestive pose of bikini-clad babes.

They're as black as Sarah Kerrigan ever was.

It compares skin tone against a brown paper bag.

Woohoo! Technology proves that the color-blind will eventually rule this planet based on... our... ability... to um... judge people's races? Crap. FAIL.

The scene lighting has to match in both cases also.

You did claim it won't happen. I know who the fool is, and it's not me.

Wow, look, you can edit off the rest of the post to make it appear I claimed something I didn't!

You are one dishonest turd, aren't you?
